Oh, that's a bit harsh. He's definitely not as good as the hype that surrounded him before this year, but there are definitely others. Heck, even for just this year I'd say Dominic James was more overrated. You gave me an idea, I'm going to start a thread to that effect in the general basketball forum. in 2 years, mcroberts averaged 10 points and 6 rebounds. thats not good at all. everyone says- well he's athletic. i dont care, 90% of the nba players are athletic. in james' career at marquette, he averaged 15 points, and im not sure how many assists. i would take james before mcroberts |

He attempted just under 10 a game this year and barely 5 as a freshman playing with Redick and Williams (can't really blame him for the latter). James took over 13 a game each year, and wasn't particularly efficent this year. He shot 38.4% from the field (and that came up at the end of the year)and only 27.2% from the arc. James shot his team out of games just as frequently as he shot them into games, maybe even moreso. There's a reason that James is going back to Marquette, there wasn't anywhere near enough interest in him. McRoberts is solid defender and an underrated passer (3.5 assists per game for a big is pretty good, especially one that doesn't domiante the ball) that is a pretty good athlete and has better scoring touch than he showed at Duke. James on the other hand is a SG in a point guards' body that thinks he's a better shooter than he is and struggles to run a team. He REALLY needs to improve his shot selection and work on learning how to control the tempo and run the offense if he wants to be anywhere near as good as his hype. |

besides not winning any huge games, give me a reason why he was overrated Well, never winning any big games is kind of a big reason. He's undersized, and the only thing he does well is shoot. Not to mention he has had some pretty good teammates to save his ass. |

are u saying hes the most overrated ncaa player ever? I gotta disagree with soxfan1 on that. Reddick was pretty damn sick in college. Sure ESPN raved about him, but for cripes sake he freaking dominated even though he was consistently getting double teamed, hell sometimes triple teamed. His abilities just don't project into stardom in the NBA but he was pretty freaking ridiculous at Duke. |

Yeah JJ Redick was an outstanding college player, hard to call him over-rated.
