QUOTE
In their quest to find a veteran point guard, the Chicago Bulls have been in contact with Derek Fisher, and they've also contacted shooting guard Brandon Roy, according to sources with knowledge of the situation.

It was widely assumed that Fisher would quietly re-sign with the Oklahoma City Thunder after essentially choosing them over several contenders following a midseason trade from the Los Angeles Lakers and buyout from the Houston Rockets.

Fisher, 37, is also on the radar for the Miami Heat, Dallas Mavericks and Thunder. All three teams pursued him in March after he negotiated a buyout from the Rockets. Fisher gave up the final year and $3.4 million of his previous contract as part of his buyout from Houston. He signed for the remainder of the Thunder's $2.3 million midlevel exception, essentially a pro-rated $1.9 million. Roy, 27, who retired before last season because of chronic knee problems, is hoping to make a comeback this season and could find a role with the Bulls for the right price. He and his representatives have spoken to members of the Bulls' staff as he tries to make his decision. Yahoo! Sports reported on Saturday that the Bulls were one of four finalists for Roy's services.
Link. If I started misspelling things, at least I could pretend we had Derrick playing PG for us.

I'd rather have just about anyone other than Derek Fisher at this point.

If anything he can help groom Teague while Derrek is on the shelf.

At vet's minimum, sure why not. I might prefer a Hinrich, but I was surprised how much Fisher had left in the tank watching the Thunder down the stretch. He probably got more PT than he deserved, but it wasn't all that bad. Knocked down open shots, didn't make stupid turnovers. Might be nice depth down the stretch and I'd pick him over CJ Watson.

No way I'd take Fisher over a healthy CJ Watson. Only way that makes sense is if we think that Plantar Fasciitis CJ has will keep getting worse.

I'm also factoring in the cost of CJ which I think is $3M off the top of my head. I also assume that Fisher won't be getting more than 20-25 minutes a game for the most part while CJ may command significantly larger time that I think Teague would be better served to get..

CJ averaged 23 mpg last year and 13 the year before. The most he ever averaged was 1 season at 27.5.

CJ gets $3.4 mil next year.

His mpg when Derrick Rose is unavailable and has only a rookie as his backup, I surmise may be much higher. Enjoy letting any decent scoring PG torch you while CJ refuses to pass the ball on offense.

And you think Derek Fisher is going to help you with those problems?

I feel more comfortable about him running my offense and spending more time on the bench for our rookie PG to play. Not only that, but IMO he is a much better fit when Rose returns as a veteran backup.
