It just came to me. The Bulls should shift Ben Wallace's horrible contract to the Heat for Shaq's horrible contract. At the worst it's a 2 year deal at $20+ million. It might not work out but it has the potential to work. Shaq would give us a low post scorer that would make our perimeter players better. At the worst, we could bench him, his contract would expire sooner, and we could play Noah and Tyrus more if it doesn't work out.

QUOTE Brendan (Chicago, IL): Chad, when word broke of a potential Shaq for Marion deal, why didn't John Paxson get on the phone and offer Steve Kerr Ben Wallace and his choice of either Ty Thomas or Joakim Noah? Wouldn't the chance at a young "running" big along with Wallace be more attractive to the Suns then Shaq? And wouldn't getting rid of Wallace's contract be a huge for Paxson, especially if Marion opted out this summer?
SportsNation Chad Ford: (1:10 PM ET ) I just finished writing a column about this. I'm not sure whether Paxson did or didn't pick up the phone, but I think clearly there were better deals available for the Suns had they shopped around. I was told by a source close to the Suns that they got multiple offers on Wednesday ... some that were better than Shaq ...but had already committed to doing the deal with Shaq as long as he passed his physical. I think the Bulls deal you mention would've been a better fit for Phoenix. I also think Jermaine O'neal would've been a better fit. Even the Pacers Jeff Foster. |
