It just came to me. The Bulls should shift Ben Wallace's horrible contract to the Heat for Shaq's horrible contract. At the worst it's a 2 year deal at $20+ million. It might not work out but it has the potential to work. Shaq would give us a low post scorer that would make our perimeter players better. At the worst, we could bench him, his contract would expire sooner, and we could play Noah and Tyrus more if it doesn't work out.

The scary thing? Shaq for Wallace straight up doesn't work, not enough salary included on the Bulls side. Have to add in at least Khryapa to make it work.

Yeah, he just had yet another MRI.

As much as Ben Wallace sucks, at least he can take the floor. Shaq hasn't been dependable for two seasons and it looks like the chances of him ever helping a championship contender have long since passed.

If its between Wallace and Shaq I take Wallace bc at least he costs a bit less and plays a whole lot more.

Oh god, don't get me started. Shaq at times doesn't even look like he should be a starter on an NBA team. He's been done for 2 years now..

Do the deal if only to keep Ben out of a Bulls uni. I'd rather have an injured Shaq wearing a suit on the bench then a Ben Wallace in red, white and black playing 30 minutes and pulling down 6 rebounds.

They are shopping shaq and he is one of the few available low post scorers who could be had without trading away too many big pieces.

A trade could motivate him to at least not suck. And not sucking is something we could use right now.

I gotta go with the "he makes more and plays less" line of thinking. That's one of the few contracts in the league that is probably worse than Big Ben's. About the only "positive" is that he could easily be hurt enough to give Noah consistent starter's minutes, though we'd be paying him $5 mil more than Wallace to do it.

That and the Heat would have to be retarded to take Wallace over Marion, which is the other rumored deal.

Probably trade it to the Bulls for something rediculous. Just kidding. It won't matter what they do with it next year but they'll win the title this year. Everyone thinks Shaq is done but they have another thing coming. He's not the player he once was but he's just what the Suns needed. If the Suns stay healthy they are winning the title. Amare is made to play the 4. He'll dominate there. The Sun's have Nash and we all know how good he is. Plus they will get a better open looks, if that's possible, when Shaq draws the double team. That means Barbosa, Nash, & Bell will get even better looks from the arc. They'll miss the Matrix but this moves paves the way for Diaw to play more. He's a do everything type player and they'll be just fine at the 4. The most important player will be Grant Hill. If he is healthy come playoff time they'll have a great inside outside game and a slasher/mid range player in Hill. They'll be the team to beat.

I have always thought that if Ben Wallace gets traded it's going to be to the Spurs. Now I'm really starting to like the idea that we'll send him there for some combination of their expiring contracts. With Shaq & Gasol (not to mention Bynum) being real threats in the West and with the way Dallas matches up so well with the Spurs I think the Spurs can't just sit back and think they'll be repeating. I know Wallace hasn't been too consistent this year but he still has a major game left. The problem with Wallace, like Tyson, is thato ffensively challenged defensively gifted players that rebound need to play with a 4 or 5 that has a low post game. That's what Tim Duncan has. Duncan likes to play the 4 and Wallace is still one of the best defending 5's in the league. The Spurs don't need more scoring and pairing Wallace with Duncan will allow Wallace to do the things he does best. He'll be able to rebound more effectively, he'll get garbage 2nd chance buckets, and he'll block shots with weakside help defense.

I think the trade makes a ton of sense especially after the recent trades that have taken place.

Here are some of the expiring contracts the Spurs have (unless some of these players have received extensions recently).

Robert Horry $3,630,000
Fabricio Oberto $3,600,000
Michael Finley $3,103,000
Francisco Elson $3,000,000
Vassilis Spanoulis $1,944,000
Brent Barry $5,554,370

Could Brent Barry be on his way to the Bulls? Again?

QUOTE
Brendan (Chicago, IL): Chad, when word broke of a potential Shaq for Marion deal, why didn't John Paxson get on the phone and offer Steve Kerr Ben Wallace and his choice of either Ty Thomas or Joakim Noah? Wouldn't the chance at a young "running" big along with Wallace be more attractive to the Suns then Shaq? And wouldn't getting rid of Wallace's contract be a huge for Paxson, especially if Marion opted out this summer?

SportsNation Chad Ford: (1:10 PM ET ) I just finished writing a column about this. I'm not sure whether Paxson did or didn't pick up the phone, but I think clearly there were better deals available for the Suns had they shopped around. I was told by a source close to the Suns that they got multiple offers on Wednesday ... some that were better than Shaq ...but had already committed to doing the deal with Shaq as long as he passed his physical. I think the Bulls deal you mention would've been a better fit for Phoenix. I also think Jermaine O'neal would've been a better fit. Even the Pacers Jeff Foster.
