This is what the Bulls could have had instead of Taj Gibson. Gibson puts up some stats in garbage time but he's never going to be anything more than a serviceable player. Blair is a beast. He probably won't ever be an all-star but he has the ability to control games. I can't imagine what a rebounding force our team would have been with a lineup of him and Noah. Blair creates shot attempts for himself and the Bulls could have used a player that does that besides Noah. That and he is a pretty good offensive player. Oh well. I was pissed then with the selection of Taj and I'm still pissed.

Yeah I'd probably would rather have Blair than Taj but that gap is slowly closing because Taj is actually playing decent. He's not ever going to be a guy that is a 20 and 10 force or probably even a 12 and 10 guy but he's one of those dudes that just gets the job done and he knows where he's suppose to be on the court, and for a rookie that's impressive. I don't think he's an NBA starter but he can be an important guy to have on your bench because of his defense and his efficiency.

But one thing on Blair, you watch. He won't be able to withstand the test of time for very long on those knees. With no ACL's there is absolutely no way he's going to be able to play in the league that long without support from his knees.

Exactly. everyone passed on him in the first round for a reason - no knees! Taj is good on the glass and can consistently make good shots.. there's never a reason not to have guys like that

Blair: 7.2 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 0.7 apg, no knees
Gibson: 8.5 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 0.6 apg, with knees

Gibson's playing 24 minutes per game, Blair is playing 17. And the quality of team is slightly different.

Take a look at what Blair has done since he started getting consistent minutes. In his last 4 games while averaging 29.75 minutes he is averaging 13.75ppg, 14.5rpg, 1spg, .75bpg, 56% from the field.

If you take out the one monster game (which Taj could only dream of having) he's averaging 9ppg, 12.3rpg, .67spg, .33bpg on 50% shooting in 29.3mpg over his past 3.

Really to early to say how good Taj can be. This I do know...the kid came in able to play defense and rebound and that is a plus for any rookie. His offense is waking up too. With Tyrus back he may return to coming off the bench soon but I don't regret Taj as the Bulls pick at all.

Hind sight is 20-20!!!

Yeah exactly... I would understand people whining if he wasn't seeing the floor. But he IS playing good minutes and making the most of them. You can't ask for much more on a pick that most people wrote off from the beginning.

In two years, when Blair is out of the league and walking on crutches, you'll be happy we have Taj.
