I don't want anything to do with Posey.

I would. Good/great role player off the bench, can fill the 3 or 4, can shoot the 3, and is an abrasive player that can get under people's skin.

what's not to like?

Haven't been here in a long, long time..... bullssmilie1.jpg

Seeing how successful Boston did this kind of a trade, why can't the Bulls do something?

Prepare to flame me, but I suggest.......

To Chicago: Carmelo Anthony
To Denver: Ben Gordon (Sign and trade), Luol Deng (Sign and Trade), and Kirk Hinrich.

The more I'm thinking about it, the more I feel that a big man will be traded to Chicago and we can then afford to draft BPA, or that Tyrus Thomas' game will improve by leaps and bounds.

I guess maybe since I live near SA, I'm the only one who can see it being a good trade. Okay, maybe putting out Luol Deng like that is a stretch, majorly, but you know the Spurs would be looking for foot speed and athleticism after the way Manu has played the last two semifinal games.

Two lines of thought...

1) Adam Morrison, you're table is waiting, sir.

2) Flip-flop picks to the Bulls, maybe???? Or another team????

I mentioned something about Marquis Daniels in the "You're the GM JOhn Paxson" thread, it's worth reading again if you want to, it's the Plan B discussion.

Tell us what you do this off season.  Assume you get the 2nd pick and the 14th pick in the draft and $15 a year in cap room.

Draft:

Assume Portland will take Tyrus Thomas #1, and Chicago has the #2 pick:

"With the 2nd pick in the 2005 NBA Draft, the Chicago Bulls select, LaMarcus Aldridge, power forward, University of Texas."

Assume Chicago, according to nbadraft.net, still has the #16 overall pick in the first round:

"With the 16th pick in the 2005 NBA Draft, the Chicago Bulls select, Josh Boone, forward, University of Connecticut".

Trade:

To Chicago: Devin Brown, SG, - ex SA and UT player
To Utah: Future consideration pick

Plan B Trade:

To Chicago: Marquis Daniels, 2006 1st round pick, future considerations
To Dallas: Ben Gordon. (With Dallas' low first round pick, select either Maurice Ager from Michigan State, Mike Gansey from West Virginia or Rudy Fernandez from Spain as your backup 2-guard.

Plan C Trade: Darius Songaila for some size at the 2 spot.

Free Agent:
C - Joel Pryzbilla

Your lineup so far:
SF - Andres Nocioni, Luol Deng
PF - Tyson Chandler, LaMarcus Aldridge, Malik Allen
C - Joel Pryzbilla, Michael Sweetney, Josh Boone
PG - Kirk Hinrich, Chris Duhon, Jannero Pargo
SG - Marquis Daniels, Maurice Ager (my pick)

FA signees to round off the team:
PF - Brad Buckman - 2006 NBA draftee from University of Texas
PG/SG - Brad Newley, an Australian draftee for the 2006 draft as well.

Unfortunately, IMO the Bulls will not be able to get an elite-star, but this will add some balance throughout the lineup instead of relying on just one or two players, while Marquis Daniels is an up and coming star out of the Dallas ranks. Devin Brown, just in case of people forgot, was a very valuable San Antonio Spurs SG until he hurt his back in the 05 season, was out for most of the playoffs, and thus made the Spurs go after Michael Finley during the off-season. Either way with Brown in tow and Gordon staying, or else Daniels here w/Ager and Gordon going, the Bulls should now have some inside prescence, Tyson will then go back to his natural position at the 4, Duhon will assume his role as the backup PG, and Daniels or Brown will bring some size at the 2 while also helping both offensively and defensively.

I'd like to see what everyone thinks of this idea....as I live near San Antonio, and I'm from Chicago, maybe there's a way to help out both teams for the present and future.

To San Antonio: Ben Gordon, Luol Deng and the Bulls 2nd pick of the first round pick of '06.

To Chicago: Emanuel Ginobili plus a conditional draft pick in 07, or possibly, POSSIBLY the rights to Luis Scola, PF, Argentina National Team).

How it helps SA: Gives them youth and athleticism. Deng will become a huge understudy from Bruce Bowen, one of the best NBA defenders of this generation. Gordon can come off the bench, or potentially start, for the Spurs, while Brent Barry and Michael Finley can fight among themselves for time at the 2. As evidence in this postseason, although the Spurs are still the team to beat, they look a little on the slow side. Doing this trade helps the Spurs a bit offensively while they can still get a capable, starter-to-be around #16 (Josh Boone or Rudy Fernandez would be a good pick while the Spurs can still work out a sign-and-trade or just a signing of Luis Scola, arguably one of the best ballers not playing state side). Again - youth, athleticism and offensive capabilities that will help the Spurs from double teams when opponents draw to Tim Duncan.

How it helps the Bulls: Although you would give up some considerable offense to the team, you would get a superstar in Manu Ginobili at the 2. This will solve the problems on "who plays the 2". Manu gives you size - 6'6", speed, a LEFT HANDED shot with range, athleticism and creativity in your offensive game, while also giving you a person who is good to great in the defensive area. Manu will become a mentor to the growing Chicago Bulls, helping out Andres Nocioni, his Argentenian teammate, as well as becoming a good, steady influence for teammates such as Kirk Hinrich and Chris Duhon. Also, with either a draft pick from the Spurs in '07 or the rights of Luis Scola, the aforementioned PF, this will add some needed depth for the Bulls. By keeping the 1st of the 2 first round picks in 06, the Bulls can still eye a big man (Tyrus Thomas, LaMarcus Aldridge) to help them out for next year.

*phew* OK gang....what are your thoughts on this? It wouldn't be a Kevin Garnett-type trade, but it was something I was thinking about on the way home from work. It makes sense while the Spurs will be able to save some money under the cap, and it won't hurt the Bulls as much as Manu ONLY makes 8-10 mil a year.

Just IMO - Gordon is arguably the first tradable among the four. You could slide Deng to the 2, keep Noc at 3 and Hinrich stays at 1.

Plus, remember some things:

1) It will take an act of Congress to have John Paxson ever, EVER, trade Kirk Hinrich anywhere.........unless for T-Mac, Kobe, KG or DWade.

2) T-Mac has been a little on the brittle side the last couple of years.

3) There were some "grumblings" out of the Houston Chronicle the last couple of years about T-Mac possibly retiring in a couple of years. So, any trade possibilities for T-Mac better be thoroughly looked at.

The main problem with Tyson is that he is way, way too hard on himself. Look at his body language every time he commits a foul, turns the ball over or anything negative. His emotions can get the better of him. He has to learn to reign in the negativity and turn it around.

Probably some tapes of seeing how Tim Duncan does it will help him out.

The off season is beginning, but not before one final meeting.  What do you give each player on the roster to work on during the off season?  Do you put them on a strength program, agility, or shooting, or something completely different?  Be creative!

Tyson Chandler - A NBA-DVD of Kareem Abdul Jabbar's - "How I learned to score over 38000 points while still helping my teammates defensively.......without the "third party lessons". Oh, and a 6-month tab to I-Hop to put on a few pounds, and a lifetime membership to Gold's Gym.

Andre Nocioni - A DVD on the 2005 NBA World Champions San Antonio Spurs, just to keep the fire going, as if he needs it! "Mira Chupa, mira a Manu Ginobili!!"

Chris Duhon - A book: Pat Riley's "The Winner Within".

Kirk Hinrich - A video/DVD collection of John Stockton's best moves, shots and cheap forearms, just to keep those James Posers away! Also the book: Leadership and Self Deception.

Luol Deng - Another lifetime membership to Gold's Gym, and some DVD shots of Sean Elliott, because that is what he closely resembles.

Ben Gordon - DVD of Michael Jordan's "Come Fly with Me".

Malik Allen - The book "The Leadership Challenge"

Michael Sweetney - ANOTHER lifetime membership to Gold's Gym, 24-Hr Fitness, and World's Gym, with a little bit of "Commando Survivor" sprinkled in there somewhere.

Jannero Pargo - Maybe find him a height pill?

If Tyson ever develops a drop-step fade-away, or a nice runner-in-the-lane, or a spot=up 12-footer, that will help the Bulls in so many ways.

I'd say:

PF: Tyson Chandler, LaMarcus Aldridge, Malik Allen

C: Joel Pryzbilla or Nene, Othella Harrington, Josh Boone (from our 2nd 1st-round pick)

Maybe I'm still a little bit bitter and broken, as Tony Bruno would say, but like the Bulls need ANY more motivation for next year.
