The bulls are ready to make a swooping deal for Gasol. The time is now to make a deal, Paxson is under a lot of pressure to turn things around. With the latest circuis performance and Noah's team suspension, the time is now to acquire the piece we needed all along, in Pau Gasol!
The Grizzlies have been interested in Nocioni for awhile and with Noah's latest team troubles it would make sense for Pax to involve them into a deal for Gasol. Are the Grizzlies going anywhere? Not really so they might as well get younger and try to build around guys like Noah.
A trade of Noah, Nocioni, Duhon and Kryhapa would work according to trade machine.

I think TT would have to be involved, probably in kryhapas place

They are going to want either Gordon or Deng if not both.

Honestly though...I'm not sure at all if they'd take even both of them right now. Especially Gordon...you've got 2 guys who are RFA's next year who are going to be a major salary hit starting soon. Gasol for Gordon and Deng would actually worsen the Grizzlies' luxury tax situation very soon. And thus far, Gordon hasn't done a lot to build his trade value this year, neither has Deng who's been hurting on and off.

I hate to say this, because I advocated keeping these guys since I thought their value would go up, but right now, it seems like we've managed to lower the trade value of every single potential asset we could have with our suckiness this season.

And the problem with that would be?
Deng isn't a superstar (He's not athletic) and Gordon's Vinnie Johnson, except he can't guard or post up like Vinnie.

Neither is Gasol.

Giving up your two leading scorers for one guy rarely ends up in an improvement. That'd leave you with a lineup of Kirk-Duhon/Thabo-Noc-Gasol-Wallace, which is pretty damn awful, especially considering there is no depth on the perimeter.

I'm fine with basically anything that leaves us with Deng and Gasol. Those are two fairly solid top-50 type players that you can possibly build something around.

Pesonally...I hate the thought of losing Noc. He seems the only one to bring the fire every night.

Why? Is there an obvious deal out there that is going to save this season? I certainly don't think so. And rushing to trade off guys just because they're playing poorly is a short description of what we did with Chandler, IMO.

Right now, if the season ended, we'd be tied with Sacto looking at the #9/10 pick, and either some of our guys are going to start playing better or that spot might improve as things like Wade getting healthy, rookies developing, guys (Brand) coming back from injuries, and so on happen. Yes, it sucks that we're talking about another top 10 pick, but we might well have a lot more flexibility to make a move this summer instead of moving out of desperation during a bad year. Especially since we'd then know what kind of offers guys like Gordon and Deng were pulling from other teams or as sign/trade bait.

They're also only 4 games away from being the #6 seed in the East if they start to regain some of last year's form, so it's a bit early to be worrying about that. You don't give guys away, but if you can find a way to add someone that can help your team you need to look into it.

I don't want the Bulls going into the draft to make their team better anymore. They've done it enough and I think it's time to go after some players with more experience who can make an IMPACT.

Look what Boston was able to do last year with a high draft pick, an expiring contract, and a highly regarded kid or two.

Agree but i dont think our gm has enough to pull all of those things off.Pax seems hesitant we could have had garnett.

Not sure I would want to give up on Noccioni as someone already state, he is the only one who appears to have any fire in him this season. I would also hedge about giving up Deng at this point. Anyone is I would venture to say could be expendable at this point. The other thing to think about is how much time does Pau have left to play. He has been around for a while and we need some stability. Then there is the factor that we are playing without a true head coach. Staying the Status Quo once again is not acceptable and Pax needs to do something and make it quick to show that there will be a light at the end of the tunnel for 2008-09.
