It's hard to see how the contracts would work out unless we wanted Eric Dampier, but after trading Diop, the Mavs could really use Wallace.

I can't believe it, but it looks like Devean George vetoed this trade

Seems the 2 teams may have worked out a deal that might fly, with the Mavs holding on to George and Stackhouse but putting Keith Van Horne in as an expiring contract after resigning him. It'll cost Cuban a little more in luxury tax to do it, but it might well be a better deal for them, esp. since Stackhouse made a mess by implying that there was already an agreement for him to come back to the Mavs.
I still wouldn't give up Harris if I was Dallas. |

I agree. I almost feel like they're making this trade b/c of two reasons: 1) They feel pressure from the Lakers adding Gasol and the Suns adding Shaq; and 2) to keep Kidd away from another power in the West, like the Lakers. |

Dallas is retarded. They are not going to win the title. Now with this trade they won't win a title in the next 5 years. You don't trade a young (pretty good) PG and a young defensive center for an old all-star PG who can't hit 40% of his shots. It might look good and they might appear to be a good team going into the playoffs but they will flop hard on their face before it's all said and done. The one thing I do give them credit for is realizing that Dirk is not a leader. That's why they got Kidd. He's definately a floor general but I'm not sure he's a leader.
Anyway, I'm in Dallas and it's funny how excited people are down here. They must not realize that the Lakers and the Suns (not to mention the Spurs) are in a much better position to win the title. The Lakers, Hornets, & Blazers are poised to dominate the west for the next 5 years while the Mavs pretty much just got stuck in a automatic 2 year storm. And the bad thing is that once Kidd is gone and Dampier comes off the books it probably won't matter what type of free agent the get. The Mavs chance at winning a title slipped away 2 years ago and it's not coming back. If I were the Mavs I'd try to unload Dirk while the value is still high. The only player worth keeping is Howard. |

Yeah, this deal was fine for Dallas before Devean George screwed them over. Seriously, paying the price of Devin Harris hurts.
NJ should send George a gift basket. |
