QUOTE
An NBA executive says the struggling Washington Wizards are "open for business" for trades. The source said the Wizards are obviously very open to moving guard Gilbert Arenas, but don't think they will have any takers because of his hefty contract. "Someone will take the fall," the source said. The source added that Washington management "loves" young center JaVale McGee and would only deal him in a trade that includes Arenas.

Please no. That contract is brutal, he gets hurt a ton and Gilbert's impact on the team is not as high as his reputation would suggest. Plus I REALLY don't want to see the Bulls try to play him in the backcourt with Rose. There are numerous players on the free agent market that I would rather have.

GOD NO.

Could we trade Deng and Hinrich's contract for him and at the same time get back 3 first round picks in the next 5 years and still somehow come out of it with extra cap space next offseason? I might do it if they could pull off all that.

I just saw on Yahoo there's a rumour of Kirk and Jerome James going to Washington for Caron Butler and Mike James. This according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Can Caron Butler play SG?

Overall, the trade actually works; the Bulls would only be taking on about $100k in additional salary this season, but about $2 million in additional salary for next season, so I don't think it'd be making the bulls hit the Tax this season (although that's actually possible, Not sure exactly how close they are), but it could put another crimp in the Bulls' ability to sign a max contract FA this offseason.

Why would the Wizards be interested in that move, is my question. I'm not sure. Would they be saving a decent amount of money thanks to insurance on James's deal or something like that? They save a couple million under the cap for next season, but that's a lot to give up for a small savings. They'd clearly be giving up the better players and they'd be taking on an extra year in Hinrich's contract.

from what ive heard the wizards have been a big fan of hinrich and his overrated defense for quite some time. plus with butlers injury history it would be getting rid of one of many high injury risk players on washingtons roster.

As for Washington, one source close to the situation said in the wake of Gilbert Arenas' indefinite suspension this week: "The Wizards are 100 percent going to try to void Gil's contract, and they're 100 percent going to clean house. There is now not a single player they wouldn't trade."

ok, so... i would assume that we only want jamison if we miss on bosh and amare. all our expiring contracts would be gon correct? so we'd be looking at something like hinrich and salmons, or just deng straight up?
