Didn't see mention of this anywhere, and I thought it was quite interesting:
QUOTE Warriors' Richardson hopes to be traded Tuesday, Mar 27, 2007 11:52 am EDT Jason Richardson is leaving hints that given their infatuation with Monta Ellis, Richardson will be the one traded by the Golden State Warriors after the season. Richardson is telling friends he's hoping for a trade to the Detroit Pistons or Chicago Bulls. Source: Chicago Tribune Interesting... |

Very interesting, I wonder what the asking price would be. If it isn't ridiculous, sign me up. He has some serious talent and can be a dangerous scorer. My only gripes about him are his shot selection and his free throw shooting. He'd be very dangerous if he attacked the basket more, I have no idea why he takes so many 3's (more attempts per game than Gordon )...

getting jason richardson would be nice but I wouldn't want to break up the chemistry of this team. They are really starting to click.

There must be a Michigan State/SCott Skiles connection there, because you don't here many players say they want to be traded here, post-Jordan.

Would like him but another guard? We have far more pressing issues.

Would like him but another guard? We have far more pressing issues. That's pretty much how I feel about it. With the scoring we have in the backcourt, it wouldn't help that much because you would either be taking minutes from Ben or Kirk. If Richardson was a PF or C, we could talk. |

If Richardson was a PF or C, we could talk. There's always the question of what the price is and what the return would be. If the price for Richardson is rock-bottom because he's demanded a trade & his team is going to oblige, that gives us an extra guard. But, there always seems to be a solid demand for Ben Gordon on the trade market these days, and he is a valuable piece that could be used to fill in that PF/C hole we keep trying to fix. Probably not the best idea in the world, but if it comes down to it where we have no other options this offseason for filling in that PF/C slot (which honestly shouldn't be a problem with the draft picks, cap space, and tradeable pieces we have) it's at least a non-terrible backup idea.. |

Ya, the only way I would want any part of this is he was dirt cheap. It would be nice to have a scorer that CAN attack the basket, when hes not chucking 3's but our needs are so much more for a big that it might just tie up money and a roster spot.

The NBA salary cap pretty much kills any type of bargain that you could get. Because of salary considerations, you would have to include certian players, which would pretty much insure that this would pretty much be a sideways move at best. Like I said, if it were a big man, it would be different because our production is so low there, and we have other guards who could step up in minutes without hurting that production. |

After checking it out, here's Richardson's contract the next 5 years:
Jason Richardson $10,000,000 $11,111,111 $12,222,222 $13,333,333 $14,444,444 None of them option years. The Bulls may well be far enough under the cap to take him on with a limited cost to us, what with Sweetney and PJ's contracts having expired (the Bulls do still have some maneuvering room this offseason because of those 2, until Gordon and Deng are resigned), but that Contract would be quite the albatross when stuck in with the rest of our guys who are about to get paid. And, it goes the wrong way - up towards the end instead of down, like the deals we've signed with Wallace and Hinrich (pay them high in the seasons where we have cap space to free up more room @ the back end). So it would hurt Paxson's plans for how to afford all our young guys. With that detail...no thanks. |

No thanks.
I'd prefer the shots went to Gordon/Deng. Richardson is not needed... now if he played center and could score, that'd be a different story. |
