Riley was saying Eddie Jones is going to be guarding Gordon...

does that mean Wade and his bum shoulder are going to be guarding Deng?

And there is still time to get in on the pick to click contest for the playoffs. http://www.talkbulls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1739&pid=25794&st=0&#entry25794

nervous as hell.
go bulls.

Posted by: ChWRoCk2 Apr 21 2007, 11:11 AM

My keys to the game:

Set pick and rolls of Dwyane Wade, bump his shoulder to get him in pain.

Watch Shaq at all times, dont double him because he will kick it out to the arch.

Get BG7 hot early on along with Cpt Kirk and Deng.

According to sportscenter Shaq is 26-0 in playoff series when he wins the first game so I see this game as a MUST win.

Posted by: TeaLeafReaderII Apr 21 2007, 12:43 PM

um, when I said get your pick in by 2:30 I actually meant 2:00... when the game starts...

Posted by: Chicago Bulls Franchise Apr 21 2007, 01:13 PM

YES, I made it JUST in time. I just got back from my double header baseball game biggrin.gif

Off to a hot start this is what we need.

Posted by: danman31 Apr 21 2007, 01:21 PM

The offense is clicking, they are getting to the basket, rebounding well, and Wade is a non-factor so far. Only thing is Shaq looks good, but so far it doesn't appear he can win this game on his own.

Posted by: TeaLeafReaderII Apr 21 2007, 01:25 PM

I have a fever and the only cure is more BG7

Posted by: DrunkBomber Apr 21 2007, 01:25 PM

Need to tighten up the D

Posted by: TeaLeafReaderII Apr 21 2007, 01:27 PM

2 fouls on pj.... El Chapu enters the game...

Posted by: DrunkBomber Apr 21 2007, 01:27 PM

We cannot let Shaq beat us. They need to force other guys to take the shots.

Posted by: ChWRoCk2 Apr 21 2007, 01:27 PM

Paxson you better be watching this is why we need someone in the draft who has the ability to stop the diesel. (if possible)

Bulls are making bad passes off the pick and roll has to stop.

Posted by: TeaLeafReaderII Apr 21 2007, 01:28 PM

kirk with 2 fouls

Posted by: DrunkBomber Apr 21 2007, 01:29 PM

Jesus christ, dont let Shaq score that easily

Posted by: ChWRoCk2 Apr 21 2007, 01:33 PM

Shaqs out of game now so lets pick things up and make some damn shots.

Posted by: DrunkBomber Apr 21 2007, 01:34 PM

The whole team is ice cold

Posted by: Chicago Bulls Franchise Apr 21 2007, 01:35 PM

Tyrus Thomas NEEDS to be playing in this game RIGHT NOW!

Posted by: danman31 Apr 21 2007, 01:36 PM

They are taking bad shots and the D lost whatever rhythm they had early on. They look really bad right now, someone needs to step up on offense.

Posted by: DrunkBomber Apr 21 2007, 01:38 PM

Deng is the only one stepping up right now

Posted by: TeaLeafReaderII Apr 21 2007, 01:45 PM

I thought gary payton was hurt... was I hullicinating?

Posted by: DrunkBomber Apr 21 2007, 01:46 PM

Yeah, but they did play very well for the opening 3 minutes or so. Still though, only down 1 after 1. More points than I would have expected, the Bulls need to play better D. It looked like they were doing so towards the end f the quarter though.

You cant beat the heat like that.

Shaq is just unstopable.

Tied after a decent run. The D is playing a little better, Sef looked solid on Wade. The home crowd is huge in this game right now. The Bulls are probably down 8-10 on the road playing like this.

Posted by: ChWRoCk2 Apr 21 2007, 02:08 PM

Here we go first the T up on Posey, now Nochs three, one point lead time to take off.

Posted by: danman31 Apr 21 2007, 02:15 PM

Finally a 3. If the Bulls start hitting their 3s, watch out.

Posted by: ChWRoCk2 Apr 21 2007, 02:23 PM

YES, huge bucket to end the first half. Thats what I want to see, Dengs block then Thabo with score, start Thabo second half.

Posted by: danman31 Apr 21 2007, 02:26 PM

Thabo is playing very well and the Bulls are up 3 at half. smile.gif Hinrich was in foul trouble most of the half and the Bulls are still up, very good. The score is also more within the range the Bulls would like (49-46).

Posted by: TeaLeafReaderII Apr 21 2007, 02:29 PM

Wallace doesn't have any fouls. Pretty cool... we might not see sweetney today :beer

Posted by: Chicago Bulls Franchise Apr 21 2007, 02:29 PM

Well I think Kirk will go off in the 2nd half, he better.. Good half but we need to put the game away early.

Posted by: TeaLeafReaderII Apr 21 2007, 02:46 PM

John Barry has been tolerable this game... maybe he isn't biased against the bulls... he was just biased for the nets.

wtf hinrich? quit acting like udonis haslem

Nocioni back in the game...

Posted by: Chicago Bulls Franchise Apr 21 2007, 02:46 PM

I feel for Kirk, normally he wouldn't do such a thing but hes just angry, I have no problem with it.

Shefolosha!!! We need him to play like this the entire series. He is guarding Wade great, and his offense is superb as well.

Tyrus is a beast as well... oh my ohmy.gif

Posted by: Bullseye Apr 21 2007, 03:10 PM

Show a replay of that.

Bulls are dead on right now.

Why does Duhon NEVER take the shot?

Posted by: Chicago Bulls Franchise Apr 21 2007, 03:11 PM

Tyrus Thomas JUST TOOK HIS SOUL!

Posted by: danman31 Apr 21 2007, 03:11 PM

Posted by: Bullseye Apr 21 2007, 03:15 PM

also, this one thing Ben Wallace has to give us that Tyson would never... playoff experience.

Posted by: TeaLeafReaderII Apr 21 2007, 03:19 PM

hinrich with his first points of the game. Good to see he is putting the first 3 quarters behind him.

five on shaq!

Posted by: Chicago Bulls Franchise Apr 21 2007, 03:19 PM

uh oh, Wade just hit a shot, time to sit Duhon and put Thabo in.

Posted by: ChWRoCk2 Apr 21 2007, 03:27 PM

We got a gift there, I didnt see a foul that should have been called, unless Shaq held him.

Both teams shots are going in and out.

Bulls starting to struggle, at a bad time too.

Posted by: Chicago Bulls Franchise Apr 21 2007, 03:27 PM

Wow we really need to put this game out for good, its only a 6 point game now. Somebody needs to take over.

Posted by: Chicago Bulls Franchise Apr 21 2007, 04:07 PM

Great win, Bulls lead the series 1-0.

The GOOD:

Gordon-I had no Idea he had 11 assists, great job running the team
Deng- He is a rising star, how do you guard him?
Wallace- His playoff experience and the extra shots off offensive rebounds helped alot.
Tyrus - His energy, and his shot blocks along with his Alley oop got the momentum going in our favor.
Thabo- HELL OF A JOB guarding D-Wade. He didn't go for his fakes.

Bad:
Kirk
PJ
Defense (at times)

All in all, tough job.

Posted by: SoxFan1 Apr 21 2007, 04:08 PM

Thabo is the freaking man.

Posted by: nocionipipe Apr 21 2007, 04:16 PM

I'm encouraged for the most part with this victory. I loved Skiles' rotation today; he did a wonderful job with substitutions. I'll bet we hear the same spiff we heard last year at the beginning of the series with Miami crying about the disparity in fouls, specifically offensive fouls. Just like last year, I expect their complaints to have an effect on how the remainder of the series is officiated.

And I'd like to see a whine-off between Detroit and Miami. Both of these teams beach way to much to the refs about every single call. Wade and Shaq are exceptions and that's one reason that I respect both of those guys, but Walker, Payton, etc... mecry.gif mecry.gif mecry.gif mecry.gif mecry.gif mecry.gif mecry.gif

Posted by: soxfan101 Apr 21 2007, 04:41 PM

I think Shaq got screwed a couple times. His first 2, I think Ben flopped on that first one and than i didn't see the foul on the defensive rebound. The first one I guess has to be a foul but i hate flops.

Damn straight. I was telling everyone when we had Kirk and Duhon in the game and then just Duhon that Skiles is an idiot. I knew Thabo could guard Wade a lot better then either of them.

As much as everyone wants to act like Kirk is the best Wade stopper out there, it's a lie. It's Thabo.

Kirk sucked. It's awesome that Gordon got 11 assists b/c even Kirk w/out foul trouble wouldn't have done that. I wish we'd start Ben Wallace/Nocioni/Deng/Gordon/Sefolosha the rest of the series. That would be hot. But also would never happen.

Maybe this series will make Kirk expendable next year. I really wouldn't mind trading Kirk & some other players for a big man and using that draft pick on Mike Conley. I think that will leave us in a better position for the future both financially and talent wise. Thabo would of course become more important when we play bigger backcourts, but I think our offense would flow a lot better with a true point guard on the floor.

I hate to be the Buzzkill, but.....

As much as whining about foul calls sucks I think Shaq has a couple of good points, and as a Bulls fan I worry that we may see some overcompensation by refs in Game 2. At the end of the day, it's not good for the NBA to have Shaq ride pine during the playoffs. Also, isn't anyone worried that basically everything went right for the Bulls – with the sole exception of Hinrich's foul trouble, and I'd say Sefolosha stepped up more than admirably for him – and virtually everything went wrong for the Heat, and we still only won by five on our home court and nearly gave it away down the stretch? I'm happy to get a win, but let's not get too excited - remember last year? Sure, we competed for about 4.72 games of the first-round series, but after that it was a joke. The Heat just turned it on and ran us out of the building.

Then again, Deng, Thabo and Gordon were fantastic, and if Wallace takes one or two less turn-around fadeaway jumpers he'll be doing his job as well. I didn't give the Bulls much of a chance going in, and I still think it's a long shot, but I liked what I saw from a lot of guys... Tuesday's the big one, though, because if we go to Miami tied 1-1 we're in an awful lot of trouble.

GO BULLS!!!!!!!

P.S. While I agree that Thabo was the best defender on Wade yesterday afternoon, let's not get carried away and forget about two or three years of very solid D from Hinrich against Wade - Flash hasn't struggled against the Bulls for 3 years because of Thabo's impending arrival...

Bah, everything went right? Take a look at the box score... can you remember the bulls ever having a 3 point percentage so low? ... and everything went wrong for the Heat? Did you see Walkers performance? When was the last time he batted a thousand from three point range and at the charity stripe?

I'm glad you made that point, because I was about to do the same thing.

Also, Jason Williams had a few bad looking shots drop down the stretch. Not to mention James Posey doing a top of the ropes clothesline on Gordon in the closing minutes when he bit on the pump fake and had no blocking foul called.

The score should not have been that close.

Posted by: WHarris1 Apr 22 2007, 01:06 PM

Not too mention Antoine Walker had as good of a game as he will ever have.

Posted by: soxfan101 Apr 22 2007, 04:30 PM

Yeah, that will probably be our worse shooting game from the 3 point line in the whole series. It is far from over, but that was a damn good way to start things off.
