QUOTE Mavs' Griffin going to the Bulls
03:04 PM CDT on Sunday, July 16, 2006 By TIM MacMAHON / The Dallas Morning News Former Mavericks swingman Adrian Griffin has agreed to a three-year contract with the Chicago Bulls, his agent said Sunday afternoon. Tony Dutt said the Mavericks offered a two-year deal at a competitive salary. Dutt declined to reveal financial terms of the Bulls’ contract or Mavericks’ offer. “He had such a respect for Avery [Johnson] and the Mavericks’ organization,” said Dutt, who represented Johnson during the Mavericks coach's playing career. “With that being said, players at the end of the day have to go with their gut.” Griffin, 32, played a valuable role during the Mavericks' run to the NBA Finals after sitting out the first month of the season while waiting on a team to offer him a contract. He started 45 games during the regular season, averaging 4.6 points and 4.4 rebounds and doing a lot of dirty work. Dutt said Milwaukee, Washington and Sacramento also showed serious interest in the 6-5, 230-pound Griffin. Griffin, who did not immediately return a phone message, played for the Bulls in 2004-05 |

Good to have him back. He was a good team leader. And while I though it would be Kukoc, Griffin is fine too.

Someone has to be dealt off that bench. There just aren't enough minutes.

Good signing. He's another player that'll bring good intangibles, a solid work ethic, and a guy the rookies can look to for help.

Solid solid. Veteran leader, great defense...had a large role on the Mavs last year.

A good signing. He's a vet who can play defense and is a real leader. You need guys like this coming off the bench, even though he won't get a ton of minutes.
And yes, I do think we have a move coming, I just don't know what move is left, but I see a trade in the near future. |

I should note, this guy played 24 MPG on one of the best teams in the NBA (Mavs) and started over pretty talented guys from time to time (guys like Stackhouse).
We used him a decent amount of time in Chicago and he played a lot last year in Dallas. These are the exact type of players you see good teams have. Think of the Lakers and Robert Horry/Rick Fox or Horry on the Spurs and guys like Kukoc/Jud Buechler/Steve Kerr on the Bulls. |

One last thing I could see this meaning. We've brought in three big time quality vets in Big Ben, PJ Brown and Adrian Griffin.
Our main leader this past season was Chris Duhon. I'm sure prior to making this moves Pax would have hesitated to let Duhon go, but now that he has two bigs that are vets and than a guard/forward thats a vet, he should be comfortable to let this teams vocal leader (Duhon) go in a sign and trade. |

Yup. I'm thinking this Gooden trade is going down, and I really hope it does. |

Well, I was hoping for a return of Toni Kukoc, but welcome back Adrian. I've heard nothing but positives about him as a person and as a mentor for our young players. He will be a nice addition to the bench.
Now... I'm ready for some other moves. This roster still needs a trade or two to balance it out. |

Another SF? i dont get it. we need a PF/C, not another SF...griffin is 32 and got a 3 year deal?
Hmm...This has to mean that a big trade is coming up. There are not enough mins for Noch, Deng, Thomas, Griffin, Kryapa, etc... Never the less...I trust in Pax. |
