2nd city saint right on yet another prediction?? biggrin.gif THIS IS REAL

Lol me and Kareem were right, he's gonna be a monster.

With me hurting my back and only working on 4 hours of sleep, I was "bed ridden" and fell asleep for most of the game.

I did like what I saw when I was awake. They got a combined 10 points from Kirk and Deng yet they still pulled off a W.

It's fun having Orlando Hudson...I mean Nate Robinson on the team, I love his energy.

I guess I underestimated OKC's willingness to mess with a title contender to save some money. Really odd timing of that, I'm shocked.

100% on my predictions so far.

I knew they wouldn't be able to resign him so it makes sense to get something for him. The get Martin to replace him this year and then they get Lamb and picks for the future.

Let's hear your predictions for the 2012-2013 season...

What will the Bulls record be, and where will they finish?
What will the NBA finals match up be, and who will win in how many games?
Who will be Bulls MVP with Rose out for most of the year?
Who will be the NBA MVP?

And anything else you want to add...

48-34, 5th seed in the East.

Bulls vs Lakers, Lakers in 6. Rose comes back in early March giving him about 2 months to knock the rust off and he sets the league on fire during the playoffs. The Lakers size is too much and they win in 6.

Joakim Noah will be the team MVP, he averages 15/10 and is the starting C in the All Star Game.

Kevin Durant will be the MVP and wins another scoring title with career highs...Harden gets traded

Rumor is he might be back in November as the 14th man.

My guess is either him or Jaric (who will be waived) pick up that spot.

I love this guy...yes its a 20 min video but its worth it. Both for the highlights and the hilarity of the comedic parts

His highlights look pretty damn impressive to me, if he can put it all together he should take over as the backup C.

Watching that big 7'!" man dance shows he's got some pretty good footwork..he looks to have good hands...and he looks like a pretty good passer.

Let's see if Thibs can work some magic on him.

You think the Magic would still have interest? Supposedly they were asking about him this offseason but thats probably out the window with Dwight gone right?

The free agent market after Dengs gone is filled with aging stars... Theres a few good SFs (Gay, Granger, and Pierce) but I think we're hoping Butler takes that role for cheap. Maybe they grab one of em and move Butler to SG??

SG might be really thin, I can't see Kobe going anywhere, I doubt DWade goes anywhere, though if he doesn't resign I think he'll be a Bull. Hopefully Evan Turner or Paul George hit the market, because past them I don't see any good options.

PF is interesting if they don't resign Taj. Dirk could be a real fun option but I'd rather wait another year and get Love.

In a perfect world they'd get George or Turner then Love the following year if at all possible. Rose-George-Butler-Love-Noah would be fun stuff.

Lol Ive read all your posts, I just didn't read whatever link you posted....Until now, damn. I was looking for that loophole they talked about....It made sense to me till I read that, I apologize for wasting your time...I tried to stump The Slowik....

So heres hoping Deng and Butler have a good year to justify the trading of Deng.

What a fancy thread title...So they cant sign Harden first then resign their guys right? Once Naz, Bell, Nate, and Vlad hit FA the bulls can no longer go over to resign them...because thats all I'm saying.

You at least know where I'm coming from and don't think I'm dumb right lol.

I also realize it may be hard to convince all 4 of those guy to not sign a contract elsewhere when they hit free agency.

Read my last post again, I already explained why they wouldn't have enough space to sign a free agent in that scenario. You can't just ignore the salaries for the rest of the roster spots.

Here's another way to word it. Read questions 36 through 42.

They're not going to be remotely close to a competitive offer in any scenario that involves keeping three of Rose, Deng, Noah and Boozer. Even if it's just Rose and Noah, they'd be pretty much screwed if they were forced to make a decision on matching a qualifying offer for Taj before they can get Harden.

That last scenario didn't include keeping Taj. You're response to that was they need 13 players, so in response to that I asked can they go over the tax to sign their draft picks...which upon further "thinking" I think they can, there are 12 teams over the cap and I know those teams sign their draft picks.

IF they can get rid of Kirk for a 2nd rounder in next years draft and resign Naz, Bell, Nate, and Vlad they'd have 13 players...(and a hole at PF but with the other 4 starters being able to pick up the slack)

Rose/Teague/Robinson
Harden/Bell
Deng/Butler/2nd Rounder
1st Rounder/Vlad (again I'd be fine with Vlad starting just as a big who can stretch the floor)
Noah/Naz/2nd Rounder

Can they go over to sign draft picks?? Using the scenario I last posted can they resign Robinson, their own 2nd rounder and (if they can get it) a 2nd rounder from the Hinrich or Rip trade would give them 13 players.

So its Rose-Harden-Deng-Noah-Teague-Butler at 57 (under the cap) then just resign Naz-Bell-Vlad-Nate and 3 draft picks.

Thats the last scenario I can think of, as far as making it happen without trading Deng or Noah.... and I'm probably wrong again....

Any way we let both Taj and Booze go??? They'd have Rose-Harden-Deng-?-Noah with Teague and Butler on the bench and be at 57 mill.

I'd seriously be ok with Vlad Rad being the starting PF on a team with Rose, Harden, Deng, and Noah...He'd just be a guy to stretch the floor and hit a few 3s...Bulls had the best record with Keith Bogans as their starting SG, with more pieces on the team I think they can get by with Vlad.

So since they can go over cap to resign their own guys, I'd resign Vlad, Naz, and Bell....making the team....

Rose/Teague
Harden/Bellinelli
Deng/Butler
Vlad/Rookie
Noah/Naz

In order for Taj to remain a restricted free agent, the Bulls will have to make him a qualifying offer of something in the neighborhood of $5 million. When they do that, that immediately takes $5 million out of their available cap space. Thus, DRose, Deng, Noah, Butler, and Teague, along with a cap hold for Taj, would put the Bulls already having $52 million committed.

If the Bulls wanted that $5 million for something else, they could rescind the qualifying offer to Taj, but then they would lose his Bird rights, and thus they could not go over the cap to sign him. Signing him would be like signing any other unrestricted free agent.

So no, there's no way they could get down far enough to offer Harden $12 million a year without losing both Boozer and Taj, unless they can dump Deng or Noah as well.

Also, be prepared for Taj to get offered well over $8 million a year, probably with a poison pill also. If Omer Asik gets an $8 million a year average, then I could totally see Taj being offered $10-$12.

Ahh, thanks for the explanation. I thought it may have been plausible but I didn't bring the qualifying offer into the picture.

I also just realized the "2014 Plan" that I keep trying to wrap my head around is the 2014/15 season not the 2013/14 season. So all these wild scenarios for next season I keep bringing up are all for naught lol.

Though looking at the 2014 FA Market I hope they do what they can to move Deng because I can't see Kobe or Wade leaving LA or MIA and those are the only 2 star, aging stars at that, on the market...The 2014 market as a whole kinda sucks, unless of course Miamis big 3 breaks up and all become FA or someone like Evan Turner or Paul George hit the market.

Only plan I can get with in 2014 is if Dirk comes over cheap enough that we can sign him and George or Turner (Don't Derrick and him have a feud tho?)

Rose-George/Turner-Butler-Dirk-Noah

With Dirk on board maybe they can get Mirotic over to learn from him.

I think it just all depends on who the FO thinks can stay healthier this season. Redd showed flashes of his former self last year in Phoenix but as we all know there seems to be a fountain of youth or something in Phoenix.

I'm sure there's some team out there that would give us a future 2nd rounder for rip (like one of the other 4 teams in on Redd).

Correct me if I'm wrong here but can't the Bulls go over the cap to resign their own players??

If so can they sign Harden before they resign their guys?

What I'm getting at is somehow this year get a 2nd rounder for Kirk, and amnesty Boozer, which would leave the Bulls roughly at 44 mill (DRose, Deng, Noah, Teague, Butler).

Then sign Harden at lets say the 12 mill Balta threw out there and they'll be at 56. Add in 2 rookies at a mill a piece and were at 58 with a team that looks like....

Rose/Teague
Harden/?
Deng/Butler
?/Rook
NoaH/Rook

Can they then fill those 2 gaps by resigning Bellinelli at say 2 mill and Taj at say 8 mill...or once they hit FA can the Bulls no longer go over cap to resign them.

8 mill over the cap isn't that bad right I mean there are 10 teams in the NBA with a payroll higher than that.

Next year they'd get back under with Dengs contract off the books and hopefully at that point Butler will have established himself as a starting SF.

Danilo Mitrovic, Montenegro National Team director, on Bulls draftee Nikola Mirotic: "In my opinion, Mirotic is a bit angry at the Spanish Basketball Federation because he was not on the National Team for the Olympics. His place was given Serge Ibaka and this is why he was probably upset. I tried to contact him, but I could not get ahold of his phone number. I contacted FIBA, where I was told that the Mirotic must submit a request in writing and that way get a permission to play for Montenegro National Team. When he was registered by the Spanish Basketball Federation, there were many irregularities and the Spanish Federation had to pay a fine because of that." Kosarka.si

If he's angry at the Spanish Basketball Federation could that possibly mean he'll wanna come play in the US sooner??? If we cant work out a deal with Taj and or Boozer gets amnestied next year it'd be nice to have him on the roster.

If we have any bilingual people on board heres the full article http://kosarka.si/bo-nikola-mirotic-obrnil...l-za-crno-goro/ ...report back if theres any other news in the report.

PS...I was gonna post this in the Mirotic thread but for whatever reason I can't go back to previous pages.

It'll be interesting to see what they do. Assuming he gets around the 12mill that Ibaka got that'll put them at about 55mill for 4 players, 64 if they keep Perkins. Zooms been talking about the cap being at 60 mill so ya a fortune is right should they choose to do so.

So they'll have 43 mill locked into KD-Rus-Iblocka next year...and another 17 mill locked in on other players, 60 mill locked in on 9 players...No chance they can resign Harden right??

And Michael Jordan thought taking Adam Morrison over Brandon Roy and Rudy Gay was a good idea. Being an elite player doesn't necessarily mean you can coach or evaluate talent.

I'd temper your expectations.

Did MJ work with him or is this just based on the fact that he picked the guy?

Evaluating a guy out of college, esp. a smaller school like Gonzaga is a lot harder than evaluating a guy who has been in the league for several years.

15/10 isn't a lofty expectation to have, thats what 2 more FGs a game....I mean I'm not expecting him to be the 2nd coming of Kareem or anything, I just believe he'll be better.

Brooklyn really has virtually no way to genuinely be a threat to sign him now, and in order to trade for him, the Lakers would have to take back $20 million worth of contracts. The Nets will only have 1 big deal that expires after 2013-2014, and that's Kris Humprhies at $12 million, so the Lakers would need to actually want to take on someone like Lopez or Gerald Wallace long term...or find someone else to take on those deals without any enticement.

He can say how much he wants to go to Brooklyn all he wants. After they extended Lopez it became virtually impossible.

If Brook Lopez returns to form it wouldn't be a bad return. Unless OKC doesn't resign Ibaka, there are no good Cs on the market so I'd take Lopez over no C at all. I guess the same could be said in the Bulls situation should they have got D12.

Noah >>> Lopez

He said he wouldn't sign an extension, which makes financial sense because of the stupid CBA rules that give them a disincentive to do so. Much like Deron Williams, that doesn't mean he's leaving.

Pretty much all of these guys work out with someone that knows what they're doing at some point in their career.

You probably shouldn't expect a guy that has been in the league for years and still has a jumper that spins sideways to suddenly develop a good offensive game.

Well when one of the true GOATs say he has the ability to be a monster if he got a chance to work with him, I'm gonna expect at least some kind of boost in his offensive game until proven otherwise.

Apparently hes doing yoga now too, not sure how that'd translate to playin ball but I'm sure it won't hurt.

Brooklyn has no cap space. The only way he could go to the Nets is if the Lakers sign-and-trade him there, which has about as much of a chance of happening as me spending the night with Kate Upton.

Pretty much any attractive location this off-season is going to be capped out.

And you have way too much faith in a guy working out this off-season. Noah is hardly the only guy trying to get better.

Once again, like the Rus/Love thread, I'm going off what the player said.

How many of those players are working with one of the GOATs??

Yes, I have a lot of faith in Noah improving his game. He may not be Dwight Howard good but I think he can be Andrew Bynum good...Top 3 C in the NBA....I'm predicting at least 15/10 next year.

He's not going to be in Brooklyn.

He said something along the lines of, I'm gonna see how comfortable I am in LA then decide between LA and Brooklyn. IMO thats something a player in a new city should never bring up, and would annoy the hell out of me if I was an LA fan/he came to the Bulls.

Furthermore hasn't he made it fairly clear Chicago is not a place he wants to play long term, so chances are he'd be here the one year our other superstar is hurt....Whats the point??

Ok clearing $$$ might be a valid point, but getting rid of Noah is really gonna hurt the team IMO. I'd much rather keep Noah, trade Deng, amnesty Boozer, and sign a SG next year than lose Noah(plus whatever other pieces) and Howard, and be left with Rose, Boozer, and Deng....

I'd really hate to lose Noah for what would basically be cap relief, esp. considering he's working with Kareem this offseason and I'd hate to see any kind of progression he has in a different uni.
