I still wish that Josh Smith were a part of the contest. He would have won last year if he didn't mess up on his dunk.

His dunk tonight is going to be the #1 play on sportscenter tomorrow.

So what about a 3.26 million salary is so low that he has to go compete in this just for the money? how about a little pride, or reward for the fans? How arrogant.

This might be the worst dunk contest ever. People are gonna be paying more attention to the judges than the actual contestants.

Not neccesarily, Gerald Green has some serious ups and Dwights no slouch either...The new rules make it much more competitive and this will eliminate the boredom of previous years because theres now a time limit. I think we're about to see something nasty from Tyrus!

Apparently I spoke too soon, when I said nasty I didnt mean his attititude!!!!!

I'd agree with that. Outside of a freakish althletic ability, I have yet to see what the Bulls have seen in Thomas, and his sounding like a self-absorbed prick doesn't help that at all. The only think I have been convinced of so far is that he needs to be tested for ADHD, because he has zero attention span on the floor.

Well..
Not that, but the general saying, you dont go saying "im in it for the money," when you could say "im in it for the fans."

Ya know?

Its not as bad as terrel owens, or barry bonds, but its just kinda a slap to the face. why cant it be "Im in it for the love of the game" "im in it for the fans"

If you look at the history of the competition you see names like Dr. J, Larry Nance, Dominique, Michael Jordon, Vince Carter... This used to be a contest that people took pride in. In recent years players have started to boycott it because they are too concerned with what might happen (getting hurt or hurting their image by missing a dunk and looking dumb) than what could happen (they give back to the fans and bring this contest back to what it used to be).

I was truly happy when Tyrus said hed do it because I felt like it set an example for the new generation of players but for Tyrus to come out and say what he did has done way more harm than good.

just because he doesn't say the coached bull spiff fed to him by the PR monkeys doesn't make him an asshole. Frankly, I'm glad he isn't taking it too seriously. Let him focus on his next opponent and working on his all around game... he shouldn't be farting around in practice bouncing the ball off the walls, banners, and spiff the way Gerald Green is.
