Just occurred to me, the Celtics still have a tradeable contract in Theo Ratliff. Ainge HAS to be looking to move Pierce. There's no other explanation.

Are you freaking kidding me?

Whos gonna take his spot from him, Malik, Victor, PJ, Griffin?

Hes a good player, its either you like him or hate him. Lets wait till the season to start before you make that bogus assessment.

He won't score in the NBA. I see him as a valuable player and a good energy guy, but I wouldn't count on him to be a scorer. And like I said, I wouldn't count on him pushing us to the next level.

This team was one piece short of being in the Finals, only a trade will satisfy me right now.

Noahs fine by me, hard nosed player who wants to win and he can score down low, I guess we will have to see how he progresses during the summer.

Except he won't in the NBA.

I have no huge problem with the pick of Noah. I don't think anyone we could have had pushes us to the next level. A trade for Zach Randolph or Pau Gasol, or even KG, would do the trick. But this current team does not make it past the second round in the 2008 playoffs.

Now is where it gets interesting.. Do they take Yi and fear the Chinease Government? Or will they let him slide to us at #9?

This could spark an international incident. I'm stocking up on canned goods and buying a firearm.

I still don't like anyone in this draft on the Bulls. Can we still get Randolph?

No doubt...but with Ainge you never know. Afterall he traded for 18 zillion point guards last year.

You'd think he played in a different era. Hard to believe he's college-educated.

Allen to Boston for 5, West, Sczerbiak = done.

There's gotta be a follow-up deal with Pierce. I just don't know how this makes sense otherwise.

Im still on the trade Kirk and or Ben bandwagon. We could probably get a quality big for either of the two. If Tyrus had a point guard who could pass the ball like Conley, he would excel. Kirk is a shoot first point guard which doesn't mesh well with a player like Tyrus.

As for Gordon, he is the definition of inconsistent which is why he most likely will be the one gone this offseason for a bigger 2 or hopefully a 4.

I'm on board with trading Ben Gordon, simply because of Hinrich's defensive ability. think, move Deng to play SG, Tyrus Thomas at SF, Pau Gasol (Kevin Garnett? - I wish) at PF and Ben Wallace at C...recipe for success or no? Kirk can distribute, contrary to your opinion, so he'd mesh fine with Ty Thomas.

take P.J. Brown out. we can't trade him anymore, he doesn't do much for us now.

Numbers are not the be-all, end-all of MVP talk.

I love the depth to your argument...and you know, wins are measured in numbers, too.

I think Nash was worthy two years ago, Shaq's season wasn't any better than his. last year, it's a toss-up between Kobe and Bron Bron.

but I look at Nowitzki's season, and I just don't see an MVP type of season. you can say "numbers are not the be-all, end-all of MVP talk," but he doesn't play good defense, either. don't get me wrong, he's a great player, but not the 2007 MVP.

I could live with the order in the post above mine, and you could swap Nash and Kobe and it would still make sense.

I just wanted to get some sort of discussion going on this. how is Dirk Nowitzki going to win the MVP simply on the strength of the Mavs' 67 wins? there needs to be a best team award, because that could avoid this kind of thing in the future.

here's my case: how is Dirk more valuable than, say, Elton Brand? I mean, just look at the numbers.

Dirk: 24.6 PPG, 8.9 RPG, 3.4 APG, .67 SPG, .79 BPG
Brand: 20.5 PPG, 9.3 RPG, 2.9 APG, .96 SPG, 2.24 BPG

just comparing the two, do Dirk's numbers really jump out at you? besides his .904 free throw percentage, he wasn't even top 10 in anything.

why should the centerpiece of a 67-win team automatically be the MVP? why not Kobe, who scored 31.6 PPG on a team that would've won 20 games without him, or, hell, even Nash again?

back to studying for finals. I hope this becomes something by the time I get back.

yeah, we're being ridiculous, saying someone other than Gordon should have the ball in his hands for the final shot. you're right, 1-for-10 is an awesome success rate in those chances. makes sense, Deng hasn't proven himself. but neither has he gotten the chance to. he hasn't been given the ball in that kind of situation. once, maybe twice? or Hinrich "not hustling" for that loose ball, like it's easy to get it before Varejo, like Varejo isn't going to expect that ball to be loose more than Hinrich would.

I must be out of my mind to want to give the ball to Hinrich for once for the last attempt, especially after that sick crossover on Pavlovic led to the open jumper. or Deng, who has been killer with the mid-range jump shot, and put up 30 points again today. no, no, let's keep giving it to Gordon on the last possession. I'm with you.

OK, I had to start a thread about this. Ben Gordon is an awesome scorer, came up big a lot of times in the fourth quarter...but we HAVE to stop giving him the ball on final possessions. this is getting ridiculous. he missed how many game-winners in a row? he made one against Indiana, but he botched four chances today. FOUR CHANCES! why not Hinrich? why not try to get Deng the ball at 15-17 feet? why does it HAVE to be Gordon?

Because the other team would not take what we would be willing to offer? The Grizzlies were not going to give up Gasol for Deng without getting Gordon as well, and the T-Wolves would be in the same boat, and would probably want even more than that.

Gasol is not worth Deng AND Gordon. the Bulls need an inside scorer, but can we afford to give up Deng, who is scoring 18.8 points per game, for Gasol, who is scoring 20.3? hell, I'd go as far as saying the Bulls would be fine with a traditional go-to guy, such as Paul Pierce, if an inside scorer were not available. though it does seem that really nobody was available this season, I think giving up Deng is too steep a price for Gasol.

KG would be a perfect fit. The problem is the T-Wolves are doing pretty well this year, so there is no chance we can get him now. We can either wait until possibly this offseason to make a deal or we can make a trade this year for Pau Gasol- a low post presence that can imediately make the Bulls a conteder in the East. The problem is, what will it cost to get him? I'm hearing it may take a Gordon, Brown, Tyrus Thomas package... im not so sure i like that.
I'm also hearing a Deng, Sefolosha and Brown package. Now i might consider that one. Because we would still have Nocioni to be our starting SF and then Tyrus Thomas can back him up when needed. Should be interesing to see what Pax will do.
All as I know, as of right now the Bulls won't get passed the 2nd round with the team they currently have.

I wouldn't say they're doing pretty well, but as it stands the Clippers make the playoffs with a .500 record. even Gasol might just take Gordon and Brown...seems fair to me.

with KG, you never know because McHale hasn't proven all too competent. so he could trade KG, or he couldn't. I mean, I don't see it happening, but it should.

Remember when we lost in Minnesota. Garnett didnt even take the last shot. We need a low post threat, our go to, last shot taker is Gordon.

I'd say if we get Garnett, Gordon is the #2 guy. actually, I'm sure of it. Garnett kind of doubles as a low post threat and a go-to. Gordon will get some final shots and maybe be more effective with KG drawing defenders.

I was watching the second take of the GSW game at 3 a.m. last night, and when the score was 123-121 I remember having no faith the Bulls would pull through -- I just started thinking "who takes this last shot?" and not really feeling good about anybody on this team in this situation. and no, I didn't already know the outcome of the game, I fell asleep at 10:45 and woke up at 2 a.m. to look for my drunken friend, who got himself lost...aah, college life.

but if Kevin Garnett were to become available, the Bulls need to go after him, and offer the Knicks' draft choice and anybody but Tyrus Thomas, Kirk Hinrich and Luol Deng. and if that's impossible, only one of the combo of Tyrus Thomas and Luol Deng. I'd like Ben Wallace in the untouchables group, but I don't think that'd be possible.

without a true go-to guy, this team really isn't a contender. and I know this isn't news, but I'm bored, so I hope a discussion ensues.

That's no blessing in disguise. It's easy to see that the Bulls are not a championship contender. They won't be a contender until they get a good PF/C that can score down low, or until they get a true all-star go to scorer/playmaker. (A Lebron/Wade type) That's not likely to happen soon, so their best option is trading for a PF that is a good post player. I think we can get Gasol without giving up tons of talent. It might take 1 of our key players and a future 1st rounder but it's worth the risk.

I can't imagine the Grizz asking for much more than Gordon and PJ Brown in the end. Gasol isn't worth a lottery pick.

The only problem with that is that there is no guarantee Brand would have stayed. In fact, at the time he was very pissed about the losing and it seemed likely that he would have left in another year or two as a free agent. It was still a terrible trade, but it's very possible that we wouldn't have had Brand anyways...

there's never any guarantee anybody will stay, anyway. welcome to the age of free agency. there are always better moves to improve a team than trading its centerpiece for a guy who, at best, is hopefully going to develop into the centerpiece.

it's over for this one. because Isiah has a better idea than Larry Brown of how to coach 15 shoot-first point guards, the Knicks are hovering around .400...which likely won't get their pick into the top two. no Oden, no Durant...I hate life.

Nothing is worse the E-Rob.

Thank you Jerry Krause. Oh yeah, thanks for trading Elton Brand for Tyson Chandler too... well done.

you know the worst part about that? Brand has always been a 20-10 guy in the NBA...what the hell did Krause expect Chandler would develop into? how much better does it get for a power forward?

wait, here's the worst part about it...what type of player has this team been rumored to make a move for? a scoring PF with an inside presence? (KG, Pau Gasol)...um, that's Elton Brand. it's been six years, that trade just keeps getting worse in my eyes.

(on an unrelated note, I just spent the last 15 minutes trying to decide on a new username, then I remembered I already registered here...so does anyone have a problem with the AirScott username? I know it's been 9 years since MJ, but this is my SoxTalk username as well. I don't know where I'm going with this, really. I also tried bullstalk.com before this, but there's no message board there and the scroller at the top said our top scorer was Jamal Crawford. does anyone care?)
