Hello everyone...I am new to the forum. a freind got me started and I read some of the postings and it is really great. So...Hello!...My first question is a simple one: Should the BUllS just keep their no. 2 and 16 picks...or do they really need to trade them? If so...whats a good (and realistic) trade scenario? (I have heard Garnett, Pierce, Troy Murphy...lots of things...) What do YOU GUYS think?

It depends on what player they get in return. For Garnett, Pierce, or someone on their level, I'd deal the picks, although it would probably take more, probably Deng or Gordon. For Troy Murphy, he might be worth #16, but he's not good enough for #2. His numbers are good, but he's just not a difference maker, and is a more perimeter oriented big man. How feasible any deal is will be hard to guess right now.

Unless they get an established 20-10 PF or C, they need to just make their picks. There is no reason to trade out of them otherwise.

I agree. I feel that the Bulls are a low post threat away from going a lot deeper into the playoffs.

First off, welcome aboard cheers.gif . Its always great to have more Bulls fans on here to discuss things with.

Personally speaking I'm a fan of acquiring O'Neal (Jermaine), Garnett, or Pierce and if it means we give up draft picks so be it. However, I have zero problem keeping both picks and at least 1 pick. If we pick early we should be taking Aldridge or Bargani, unless we trade or pickup a super star big and in that case i could see us taking Roy very early in the draft.

If you add a legit 2 guard to the mix (in replace of Gordon) than I'd go along with what you said.

We vastly need a true 2 guard that can consistently play defense and get to the line when his shot is struggling.

Just keep em unless we can get a guy like KG or Jermaine. Take Lamarcus with the 2nd pick. I think once we get our Lowpost man that we can count on we wont have to worry about the SG situation we have. I dont think we need to replace Gordon at all, drafting a guy like rochard roby with the 16th pick ( if we are looking for a guard with it) would sound good. If we are looking for another big man then i think Saer sene would be a great project epecailly if we got Ben wallace over the summer.

Ben Gordon wasnt too bad in the playoffs. He's not the reason why we couldnt beat the Heat.

-Our big guys didnt get the job done.

-Replace Gordon? dry.gif i dunno bout that guys... Lot of us Bulls fans underestimate how valuable he is to our team. We are always talking about how we NEED to trade this guy... Gordon is a pretty good player. He led our team w/ about 17 points per game. and this was done w/ him being the focal point of our team, and no good scoring POST players. And he did show that he can get to the line at the end of the season. (Randy Livingston was a big reason why he did this too. So lots of credit goes to that guy...) I really hope Paxson doesnt give up to early on this guy.

- IMO, Gordon has already shown flashes of greatness. The guy is fearless down in the final seconds of a game. This is a guy that went 9-9 from the 3pt line in a game. I dunno about you, but to me thats pretty impressive. When BG7 is on, he's hard to stop. This guy has won us many games (espcially his rookie year) by making big shots. I really think he's a special player.

- Once we get a taller guard, our backcourt will be okay... Im tired of hearing "we will never win a championship as long as Gordon is here." The bulls will be fine once they get a tall guard. Last year when we had desent tall guards, the Bulls w/ Gordon were still a very good team. From starting from 0-9, we ended up finishing 47-35. There where times when it looked like we couldnt be stopped w/ this team.... But then Luol got injured, and we lost Eddy... and we lost it in the post season....

-To me, theres no doubt that Gordon will get to the free throw line consistently in every game in the future. We just gotta be patient. He showed a big improvement in the second half of the season on getting to the line, and im sure he will keep on getting a little bit better, and better, and better, as he gets older and wiser. Ben and kirk improved a lot at the end of the season. Ben improved a lot on his game from his rookie season, and that was mainly because of his hard work he did over the summer. This guy will only keep on getting better and better... And he will be 11882827391 x better once we get a low post threat... biggrin.gif (that means he'll get some more open looks.)

So please paxson, dont give up on this guy!!! mecry.gif cool.gif unless we get an all-star SG or something....

great post. I think we need Gordon. this team would not have made the playoffs the last 2 years without him. I think many are concerned with his height...which I can understand...but we gave up on an undersized PF in Brand too early and now he's an mvp candidate.

LET'S BE CONSERVATIVE WITH OUR BACKCOURT AND AGGRESSIVE DOWN LOW
Ben Gordon is a special scorer. Put someone in the post to draw attention and you will see his numbers inflate big time.

A perfect situation for us would be to do what Dallas has done in the playoffs. They started Terry with Devin Harris mostly, two guys under 6'2, with spot starts by Adrian Griffin for height only when needed, and are about to be champions.

Gordon's ability to hit game winners should not be underestimated. Seeing Terry and Harris with a defensive specialist to offset them has given me new hope for the success of an all 6'3 backcourt.

Just add Carney, Ager, Collins, or Sefolosha (sp?) as a 6th man and spot starter and we can put trading ben to rest. Let's add one piece, not drastically change the only constant we had this year.

I would LOVE to package the #2 for someone proven, but in this weak of a draft the offers of Troy Murphy etc are underwhelming. There is no one in our frontcourt that I wouldn't want to upgrade. If Pax doesn't do anything but add a pick to the backcourt, he should get crazy creative with trade scenarios and free agent pursuals with the frontcourt. Contenders don't have rookie projects at their weekest position.
