Then he ought to resign now and let someone else make the pre-trade deadline decisions.

If there is any fuel to this fire, I imagine he's not calling the shots right now. At least, I'd hope not.

This is anything but confirmed. I'm not buying that it's true, but obviously, won't be surprised if it is.

That said, are you guys blaming this poor team on Paxon, Del Negro, the players or a combination of any or all?

It all depends on the money and the playing time. He's certainly not a bad guy to have around, if he's willing to accept his role, which, given another year of development for TT and another draft pick is probably going to be less than half what it was this year. He'd have to accept being a bench player and backup. Is he ready to do that? I dunno.

The way I look at things, if we want to be 2 deep at every position next year, we need 2 more big guys, and PJ does fill that role.

Gordon/Thabs
Hinrich/Duhon
Wallace/?
Deng/Noc/Khryapa/Griff
TT/?

I don't think TT is power forward material. I'd scoot him in the Deng/Noc/and then crap group. The Bulls biggest need this off-season is a power forward who can put up points and hold his own on the defensive end. Tyrus Thomas is not the guy I think of banging his body around in the blocks. If TT doesn't develop a mid-range jumper, I don't think he'll ever fully maximize that potential.

Luol Deng doesn't have the speed or ball handling to play the guard position. Probably doesn't have the speed to D up a guard either. The obvious choice to man one of Billups and Hamilton is Thabo, but he provides very little from the offensive end.

The Bulls are pretty much screwed in terms of size in this series. But those first two games made look Ben Gordon a lot more expendable in order to bring in a big man next year. Either way, I don't think the Bulls can go into next year having not upgraded their size. P.J. Brown needs to be replaced with a threat, and one of Gordon/Hinrich needs to be replaced with some size. (Preferably Gordon--Kirk may not be the scorer Ben is, but Kirk can score points and pose as a threat and he plays stellar defense. He could cut down on turnovers, though.)

Going to be an interesting off-season, this series is very telling as where the Bulls stand. They're close, but still a long ways away.

- Ben Gordon does not start game 3 if I'm Scott Skiles. I go with Thabo and Kirk to run the show in the back court. They cannot afford to get way behind early like this. Make Detroit slow their game down, and run the tempo on the defensive end.

- P.J. Brown doesn't start either. The guy has been flat out worthless in this series. Either start Noc or Tyrus in his place.

- Get some boards! The Bulls are terribly undersized in this series, but giving up 2-3 offensive rebounds on a single possession is the kiss of death.

- Tayshaun Price with 25 points? That can't happen. Chris Webber with 22? That can't happen. Funny how they limit their two best scorers but let the others light them up.

- If they can't get into open transition, slow the damn ball down on offense. Don't dribble 100 times, pass it. Make them move and spread their defense out.

- Luol Deng, step it up--you're the go to guy in this series. Nocioni, step it up--they need you to become a threat. Kirk, run the show--you played like spiff in game 2.

They have very little choice. He's actually drawn a lot of attention, though.

Anyone that can guard a single player on this Detroit team.

That seems to be a problem all the way around. Not just Noc.

Get Nocioni out of the game, he is worthless

Quit flopping, grab your balls, and play basketball Noc.

And play who? Malik Allen? Tyrus Thomas? Neither of those guys should sniff the court after game 1.

2 turnovers. Team has got to start forcing some on the other end.

They keep going inside to Ben Wallace. If they need to depend on him all game, they're fucked.

QUOTE (Chicago Bulls Franchise @ May 5 2007, 10:59 PM) *
I mean, did Malik Allen do ANYTHING positive while he was out on the court tonight? Atleast Tyrus took it hard to the basket and drew fouls and then made his free throws..

Neither really did anything positive. Thomas showed energy, sure, but it was costly energy. He shot 1-5 from the field, committed 5 turnovers and 4 PF--in 19 minutes. Malik Allen didn't do spiff either, and his box score was terrible across the board too. I'm not arguing between the two players, I'm just saying if the Bulls are looking for 16 minutes out of Allen and 19 minutes out of Tyrus--minutes where they have to produce in large ways--the Bulls will go home in 4 games.

P.J. Brown and Ben Gordon cannot ride the pine in the middle of the first quarter. They need at least 20 pts out of Gordon and at least 25 minutes out of P.J. Brown. That's where it went wrong. Only 7 points from Gordon, only 13 minutes out of Brown. That can't happen.

I don't think KG is overrated. The guy is a beast down there (always in the top in the NBA in rbs, blks, etc.) Plus he can guard smaller quicker guys further away from the basket.

I'd cream my pants if he was in a Bulls uniform.

1. Chauncey Billups will score his points. If the Bulls can't stop him, they have the limit the other 4 on the floor. That starts with not collapsing all five players as soon as one of Hamilton/Billups drives to the paint. Did we not get Ben Wallace to shut down the middle?

2. We all know the Bulls bench is not this bad. However, when the team loses Ben Gordon and P.J. Brown in the first quarter to foul trouble, the bench is put in a situation it generally won't succeed in--picking up scoring slack. Nocioni is not going to have the series he had in the first round, but he has to be better than he was tonight. It'd be hard for him to be this poor again. He needs to hit a couple of open shots to pull some pressure off of Loul and Ben.

3. The Malik Allen/Tyrus Thomas spot has been a weak spot all year. With P.J. Brown going down early and Nocioni not being able to guard Rasheed, the Bulls are going to get lit up. Tyrus Thomas was probably worse than Malik in the grand scheme of things, but Malik showed no energy. P.J. Brown needs to step up huge in this series, and so does TT. Somebody needs to tell Tyrus to slow down and worry about things on the defensive side of things. His job is to put a body on 'Sheed, not score points. This also starts by not collapsing all five players every time one of Detroit's guards drives into the paint. If they go in there, fine, but make them pay for a basket. Put them on the floor.

4. Energy is not the problem. Energy was there, nothing else was. They turned the ball over, they gave up too many offensive rebounds and they didn't make shots, nor create shots. The Bulls were just flat out terrible today, give some of the credit to Detroit, but a lot of it was that the Bulls beat themselves. First game jitters are out of the way, now get back to playing basketball.

7 points so far in the 4th quarter. That's less than a point a minute.

lol this game is unwatchable.. Detroit definitely deserved this one. They are such a better team its not even funny. O well, should be a great game next (Game 7, Utah vs Rockets). GO WARRIORS!

Experience is playing a role in this one. I won't start calling Detroit the better team until after game 2. If the Bulls look this bad on Monday, the Bulls are in serious trouble. If not, it's going to be a dog fight.
