Source denies Sixers-Bulls talks
Posted: Tuesday February 05, 2008 07:10AM ET
The Chicago Tribune speculated yesterday about a trade of Sixers point-guard Andre Miller for the Bulls' Kirk Hinrich, but an NBA source said the two teams had not discussed a deal.

that would be the worst trade ever. hinrich is much better, and younger. if it was true there would be more pieces to it.

As always, it's worth it to check the NBA Trade machine just to see how things work on any proposed deal. This one fails...despite the fact that Hinrich has a larger contract...because Hinrich is a Base Year compensation player, which means his contract only counts 1/2 its value in a trade where the salaries need to be 20% apart. In other words...yes, there would need to be more pieces to it...but the Bulls would be the team that needs to include those other pieces. So unless somehow we're also adding in Ben Wallace's salary, there's no reason at all to even talk. Because any time the 6ers add a player to that deal, the Bulls would need to add that salary plus the salary of another player to make up for the gap already there.

Um, yeah, that would be an awful idea. Why would we ever do that? If you're gonna get rid of one of the guards, it should be Gordon.

Dude, the Grizz would have wanted ZERO part of Hinrich right now. Expensive contract with several years left on it? And a BYC player? Yeesh, you're going after Pax for that? Did he insult your sister or something?
