I am a regular in a Nuggets group that "broke" the JR story on Friday. According to the source in the Nuggets organization, it sounds as though it was never an option for JR to stay in Chicago, as his agent (Tellem) really wanted him to go to Denver (where there is no incumbent 2 guard, as opposed to Chicago's glut of guards) possibly asked for this action as a favor because of the completion of the Wallace signing (also Tellem). So it seems like it should be kudos to Pax for basically getting the 1.2MM in salary dump plus 2 2nd rounders for free.. and already turning part of that into Griffin. That makes sense given the excellent relationship that Jerry Reinsdorf and Arn Tellum have in general, with Jerry having worked closely with him and done favors for him in baseball as well. Thanks for the info. |

Thanks for the info. it does make sense, and honestly, does this team need a headcase like JR? I mean, really, he wasn't going to play much. |

I really like this trade. Get rid of a prima donna who was not going to help our team regardless of attitude, and ultimately acquire a 3-4 that will receive minutes and provide leadership. The 2 2nd round picks are grossly undervalued here as well. They can provide good players/roleplayers (ala Chris Duhon) as well as be valuable trading pieces (as previously mentioned with the Thabo trade)

Yes I am expert, I heard something is wrong with dina cable?
Gotta throw a lebowski quote in there. JR Smith could have been a nice addition, but he really was not needed unless we unloaded Gordon or didnt draft Thabo. Too bad, he could be good. I dont mind the 2nd rd picks, since we have already traded all of ours until the year 2029. They can be useful as long as you draft 3 or 4 yr college players with them. |

If Smith gets rid of the attitude with Denver and pans out as a good SG, this could be Pax's first bad trade. If Smith turns into a stud SG, it will be a very horrible trade. These two 2nd rounders are a trash return unless they are used in a possible Drew Gooden trade. Then I will be happy with the move.

It completely devalues the Chandler trade for me, because JR was the only redeemable part of the deal. Dont give me the whole second rounders got us Thabo spiff, because we also kicked in some good cash to Philly for him. By chance I saw this in the classifieds this morning, "Want young, high ceiling players? We need peanut vendors, make an offer. Seriously, we'll take anything" |
