QUOTE
It looks like Jay Williams' comeback will begin with the Nets -- even though they can't guarantee him much beyond a tryout. The Nets have extended a training camp invitation to Williams, the former Duke star and Plainfield, N.J., product whose NBA career was interrupted by a near-fatal motorcycle crash three years ago. As of yesterday, Williams had not officially accepted the invitation, but indications are that he will. "He's a wonderful person, and it's a heck of a story -- from maybe not being able to walk again to possibly returning to the NBA," Nets general manager Ed Stefanski said. But the Nets already have 15 guaranteed contracts allotted for next season, the maximum allowed. By being in the Nets' camp, however, Williams can start trying to prove he belongs in the league -- although he has apparently lost the explosive quickness he once had.

Good for Jay. He made a horrible mistake but is a very smart kid and is the type of guy that deserves a second chance. I have no idea how his body will hold up, but if he can come back and be a 1/3rd of the talent he once was he should be able to find a spot on a bench somewhere.

JayWill and Du are two completely different kinds of players. If you want to pick a similar guy to Williams, go with Ben Gordon or Jannero Pargo.
