SAN ANTONIO -- The San Antonio Spurs acquired veteran forward Kurt Thomas from the Seattle SuperSonics on Wednesday night for guard Brent Barry, center Francisco Elson and a 2009 first-round draft pick.

I think it's a good pickup for the Spurs. But, one of my roommates who is a huge Sonics fan, told me Thomas hasn't been good this year at all. I don't know... I think he can be good down low. Anyway, I found it funny when my roommate's first reaction to hearing the trade was, "Hell yes! We got Brent Barry back!!!"

Thomas is solid and has had a very solid year so far. It's a good pickup for the Spurs, but I just don't think they did enough to improve their team. And getting rid of Barry really hurts their 3 point shooting. I don't think they will be repeating this year. There are just too many good teams in the west. Anyone from 1 to 8 will have a good chance of beating the Spurs.
