We've seen this before. The Bulls have looked this good the last 2 years in their first two home games and haven't won a playoff game after that. Time to take the next step and get a big road playoff win.

We have a great opportunity to sweep the Heat right now and the way I see it thats what we should realistically aim for. Although its easier said than done we have shown that if we play as we did last night in the next two we're capable of pulling off such a feat. As Balta said we have youth on our side and by using that to our advantage weve run up a 2-0 lead.
A sweep will not only allow our guys some rest before we take on the Pistons but it wont allow the Heat any breathing room and I feel we're capable of getting two more W's against this team if we play the way we have so far. It will also send a message to the rest of the East that the Bulls are for real. That said here's my keys to accomplishing this - Keys To Victory - - Continue to get Shaq out of his rhythm on both ends. Big Ben is earning his 16 million paycheck so far doing this and its great to see. Ben might not block everything but he's certainly altering a lot of Shaq's shots and giving us valuable rebound opportunities. My hat goes off the PJ Brown too for his ability to make big plays when it counts, his drive on Shaq last night was fearless and shows you that despite his age PJ's ready to sacrafice his body for this team. - We need more big scoring games from Luol, BG and Noc. Lu has stepped up to lead this team through the playoffs on the offensive end and who better than our most consistent all-arounder to do that. This challenges Gordon to do the same as Luol leads by example and Ben provides an inside/outside threat and is capable of lighting up the gym on any given night. Noc adds valuable leadership to our second-string of Duhon, Tyrus, Thabo etc. His scoring explosion to end Game 2's first quarter shows you that he's capable of hitting clutch shots and making the other team pay for not stepping out on him. This will open up the middle more when he's on the floor and allow players like Tyrus, Luol more room to slash. - Kirk, Du and Thabo need to continue to work hard on shutting down Miami's guards. Dwayne Wade although hurt has shown that there's still some fight left it him on several occasions and we need to work on containing him. Also we need a better effort of stopping the fast break more effectively and making sure that if we must foul that we wrap up the player and dont give up any more three point plays. Eddie Jones is a threat also and we've yet to see big games from Jason Williams or Kapono but theyre all 3 point shooters so we must keep the pressure at a high level. - Stay Physical. I'm not saying that PJ Brown's shove on Posey changed the game last night but it definitely showed that were not the team to mess with anymore. It was also great seeing him pick his sorry ass up off the floor, lol. - One thing I loved last night was the fact that i saw Ben Gordon actually slowing down the pace of his game. As everyone on this board knows Gordon is a brilliant playmaker but sometimes gets caught up in the moment and tries to do too much (driving through the lane and getting bumped and falling before getting off a shot, trying to make passes that are not there). Last night Ben was playing with a calmer demeanor and this is something that I think all the Bulls should try to do. If we slow things down every once in a while and set up some nice kick out opportunities while establishing our rebound hungry bigs under the boards we will be in great shape. This will lead to second chance opportunities as it did last night and also it takes the pressure off our 'jump shooting team'. Luol talked about rushing his shot in game one and how he tried last night not to force it as much and this is exactly what Im talking about here. If we play our game and dictate the pace well continue to wear down Miami on the defensive end and theyll be more fatigued when they have their chance to score. Right now we have been playing like such a well rounded team and our players so unselfish that its truly beautiful basketball to watch. We fought off a comeback attempt last night and then sent a message with a late run showing that were really in control of this series right now. It up to our guys to keep it up, ride this momentum and make this whole city of Chicago proud. Go Bulls!!!!!!!!!!!! |
