I have a question regarding the option to swap picks w/ the Knicks
next season. Is the #1 overall pick protected in this scenario? For intance if New York is terrible again(i'm sure they will be. ) and they get the #1 overall pick in the draft lottery..can we swap out? Or if it is #1 overall can they keep it. I have been hearing alot of talk about Oden in 07 but I baring him falling flat on his face in college it will take the #1 overall to get him. |

I'm pretty sure that it's an unconditional option for the Bulls to swap picks, since the Oden possibility has been floating around a lot.

There is no protection what so ever.

I thought there was something weird about it if the pick ended up in the 20's somewhere that it might have to go to another team, but strictly looking at it from the top of the lottery perspective, there is no protection.

I believe that if the pick is between 23-25, it goes to the Jazz. Something like that. |

QUOTE (The Gladiator @ Jun 6 2006, 02:27 PM) Why the Jazz? Something to do with Tom Gugliatta, Stephon Marbury, and Pheonix. QUOTE Utah receives a future New York first-round pick (lottery protected through 2010) (Tom Gugliotta trade 021904) via Phoenix (Marbury trade) Phoenix receives a 2005 New York Knicks first-round pick (lottery protected) (010504 Marbury trade)

If the pick is 26-30 or something it goes to Utah... but if its that high we wouldnt want to switch pick anyways so its not a big deal.
