The best offer the Bulls could make would be Nocioni, Tyrus, Brown and the Bulls 2007 #1 pick. Anything beyond that and the Bulls should say no.

No Deng, Gordon, or Kirk.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 18 2006, 04:31 PM) *
I realize people have questioned him at times, but if the Bulls want to get him all Pax has to do is ask Hinrich. If Hinrich says he works hard, etc than I think we pick him up (if the Cavs are interested in the package).

Good point. Hinrich is the face of the Bulls and should be around as he wants to/ is able to play basketball. If Kirk says Gooden's a solid player and an effort guy, Pax should make a play. If Gooden is questionable, I don't think Kirk will lie to Pax. Kirk wants to win and getting a head case on the bulls won't help them win

To answer the question, Tyson will be better than Wallace when Ben retires. Not before then though.

Looking at Cleveland's salaries and who they have locked up, I can't see them getting much better talent around LeBron. Hughes salary is horrible. Not to mention Snow and Marshall. Besides Varejo, Cleveland doesn't have much young talent to put around LeBron. And they don't have the cap space to put in some solid veterans.

If LeBron doesn't see some movement from Cle. this yr, he could let them know he'll prob. go elsewhere

A decision by Wallace should be made pretty soon. Whichever way Wallace goes, making a quick decision is helpful to both teams. The team that doesn't get Wallace can then go in another direction. Tellem doesn't seem the type to prolong a negotiation just to work out a few extra bucks.

If Tellem has such a good working relationship with the Bulls and Jerry R, then having both teams put their best offers on the table after their initial offers would seem to be the next step.

Don't know if this has been posted before, but Ben wasn't happy with Detroit's intial offer. I thought the Bulls offering only $1 mill a yr more was low. Maybe it was just right. They can always up the offer. If any agent can work out a deal with the Bulls, it seems Tellem is the man.

http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic.../607030342/1127

There is some good news in this. Esp. where Ben says he's not looking for more than a 4 yr deal. If Ben's the main target, the bulls should get close to $15 mill, where the Pistons won't go near.

His game seems better suited for a running team, according to comments from a fan site who was familiar with his game. He struggled with the half court game with the Clippers and did well with the open style of Sea. The Bulls need a guy who can score in a half court setting, who can post up. That doesn't seem like Wilcox's game.

I have to believe if Big Ben is coming to Chicago, Chandler is on his way out. This team can not win with the both of them on the floor. We would actually take a step back in the low post scoring dept.

Hmmmm....

I would certainly agree. With Chandlers contract gone, the Bulls could afford to get a PF who could score.

Many people expect Boozer to be dealt his offseason.

http://www.nba.com/jazz/news/Grading_the_Utah_Jazz.html

He'll make $11 mill next yr and over $12 mill the following. They wouldn't be tied into a long 4, 5 yr deal. For his post scoring and decent rebounding, it wouldn't be the worst option. Eps. as the Bulls could deal Sweetney and Khyrapa for him, two extra pieces. The question is, what is his reputation? I've hear rumblings but nothing definitive. Anybody out there with some insight into Boozer's game and attitude?

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jun 29 2006, 03:49 PM)
I meant Jermaine O'Neal.

There are still quite a few guys that are at least decent on both sides of the ball. Guys like Duncan, Garnett, Brand, Jermaine O'Neal, Pau Gasol, Dwight Howard, Amare Stoudemire when he's healthy, Chris Bosh, and Brad Miller are all pretty good all around. Even Dirk isn't as bad as he once was defensively. Plus you still have Oden on the way, and when they develop it's conceivable that Aldridge, Thomas, or Bargnani join that group.

What are the odds Pax can swing a deal for Brad Miller? Of all the Centers out there, his kind of play could fit in well with the bulls [the 2nd time around]. It probably wouldn't work w/o involving guys better than Sweetney and Duhon.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 29 2006, 07:41 PM)
In terms of Nene, was listening to ESPN Radio today and they had an interview with a Nuggets beat reporter who mentioned how almost every Nugget FA would be gone (also talked about how Carmelo is going to get a max extension and he'll agree to the terms on the 1st of July and than sign it the very first day he's eligible to do so). The gist was that Nene is the one guy the Nuggets are likely to bring back and this beat reporter seemed to think Nene would stick around.

In order for Denver to keep Nene, they'd have to unload contracts. No one will take on Martin's $70 mill deal, with his knees. Camby also has a big contract. They may want to Nene, but getting rid of the contracts will be hard to do. The Bulls should make him an offer this weekend and IIRC, Denver will have 2 weeks to match. Getting rid of Camby and Martin in two weeks will be extremely hard

No to Wallace. If Tyson could play like he did in 2005 rather than last year for the rest of his contract, he'll give the Bulls much of what an aging Wallace could. Expecting Tyson to get back to the defensive force he was in 2005 is very realistic. The bulls shouldn't be trading Tyson.

The bulls need some post scoring via free agency [Nene or Gooden] or trade, someone who can avg 10-15 pts a game

I like this much better than Thomas. In Pax's last chat on the teams' web site he called Aldridge a versatile 4/ 5. Thomas has versatility as well. But it more of him being a 3 or a 4

Seeing how Thabo worked against Roy [the top ranked SG] the bulls would have a good measure of his ability. If he could defend and play the kind of defense needed against the SG's/ SF's of the East [and have the ability to add some offense], he'd be a good pick at 16.

Whoever Pax picks, it should work out. They do their homework on these young guys.

The steal stat is meaningless to the Bulls, they look to play good positional defense with their feet, instead of gambling in the passing lanes to create the SportCenter dunk.

What isn't meaningless is that the Bulls could use a better defender at the PG spot off the bench [which would lead to more steals as the PG guards the perimeter]. Duhon has his strengths. But quickness isn't among them

They would be perfect. An easy way to get a top 5 talent big man as well as Roy.

Imagine Simmons with another year in school, despite it being a deep draft next year, he'd be up there.

What's intriguing about Simmons is that he's a Tyrus Thomas type, high energy player at the 4 and 5 spots.

Looks like Hilton Armstrong may go to NO at 15. They need the biggest guy available and Armstrong looks the part.

http://www.nola.com/sports/t-p/index.ssf?/...9140.xml&coll=1

The Jazz, who pick 14, didn't work out Simmons. Philly with the 13th pick worked out Simmons a while back. But they look to be going with a slasher like Rodney Carney.

New Orleans also has the 12th, and that's where Ronnie Brewer will likely land.

Orlando is set at PF with Dwight Howard and should pick between Randy Foye and Patrick O'Bryant at #11.

Looks like Ced Simmons could fall to the Bulls. I'd be happy with either Simmons or Armstrong if the Bulls go for Roy at #2.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 26 2006, 01:39 AM)
Very interesting. A few places I've been have indicated the Bulls have trades almost done, yet its really not being reported much in Chicago.

I'd have to think the Chicago people close to the Bulls, that cover them on a daily basis, would have better contacts so I'm going to say BS. That said, I do think our pick will be coveted and Pax will be willing to move or so I guess (I really don't think he has one guy on his board standing way out and if he's able to get someone like Stromile to help him out and still get a high 1st rounder, he'll do so).

I agree the Chi. media would have better information. As far as the #2 pick having value, I don't think it has enough for Pax to swing a deal. The pieces teams will try to move won't net the kind of impact player the bulls deserve. In other yrs, the #2 pick would have serious value. This yr it doesn't seem the case. Probably because the top 5-6 players are so close to each other in terms of ceiling/ impact

Not true.

I am hearing the Bulls packaging Duhon+16 to move up.

I wasn't getting into specific deals. I was just saying Duhon had worth. He and Sweetney together could get the bulls a decent player

IMO, Duhon wouldn't go for a pick. The Bulls don't want to get younger

Trading Duhon would be for a current pro not a pick.

He doesn't fill a need and it would be quite stupid to draft someone who won't play to boost our steals stats. And no one is going to take Sweetney and Duhon for a good established PF or C.

I don't see this happening.

If Duhon is traded [as many rumors indicate], he'd see a lot of time. And if the Bulls wanted to improve the overall team defense [not just improve their steals], upgrading from Duhon would help with that. Duhon gets burned an awful lot. He has very slow feet.

Also, a 2 for 1 trade involving those two Bulls won't net a star. But it should get the bulls someone better than Sweetney to play the 4/ 5

He profiles as a great PG off the bench. His defense [both rebounding and steals] and playmaking skills [assists, ability to penetrate and drive to the basket] would seem to fit in well with the 2nd team.

The Bulls were last in the east in steals with 6.2 a game. Though the Bulls play great team defense, it's not surprising considering the Bulls lack lightning quick guards. Yet with guards like Arenas, Iverson, Billips, Ford, and Felton in the east, getting a super quick PG who can defend and get those steals might not be a bad idea. Esp. if the bigs who could help the Bulls are gone by 16. [This based on the premise the bulls draft Roy rather than a big at 2. If the bulls draft an Aldridge, getting a guy like Thabo at 16 makes sense]

That lightning quick PG? Rajon Rondo.

In my ideal draft, I'd have the Bulls take Roy @ #2, and have a big like Cedric Simmons at 16. Yet Simmons will prob. be gone. Guys like Armstrong and Sene probably aren't the game changers a guy like Rondo could be.

I'd still take Roy at #2. Yet the bigs around at 16 probably won't have the upside a guy like Rondo does. Go with the best available player and the guy who has a big upside.

Some will say the bulls are set with Duhon. Yet with a lot of media rumors saying that Duhon is on the market, I wouldn't be surprised if he and a guy like Sweetney were packaged for a PF/ C [esp near or on draft day]. Duhon as value as a guy who won't hurt you. Yet any 6 footer who is slow as molasses is expendable

Get a free agent like Nene, and another big body like Nazr, along with a decent big from the Duhon + Sweetney trade, the bulls would be set at all the spots. Esp spots 1-3 for yrs to come.

With Thomas its a complete crapshoot...They are taking the risk hoping they get a superstar 3 years from now.

The Bulls need to decide between 2 safe picks
Aldridge - will be a 15 and 10 guy at the very least

Brandon Roy - will be a slighlty less talented version of Dwayne Wade.

The teams around the bulls can gamble on Thomas as they aren't playoff teams. I don't want the bulls to draft a 6'7", 217 lb Power forward.
