Ive heard a lot about Be Gordon being used as trade bait and that hes expendable, but he is the best player and most important player on this team. There, I said it. The go to guy weve been claiming we were missing for years is right in front of our eyes.
Without Ben Gordon we do not have an offensive player that can take over a game. This guy can score at will when the offense goes through him. Hes pretty much the only non role player on this team and should be the only untouchable player we have. I do like the progression of our rookies. I think having two long, energetic high flyers completely changes this team team and gives us a whole nother aspect for the better. Guys like Hinrich, Nocioni and Deng are gret to have but I wouldnt want any of them controlling the offense at the end of a game. Ive been watching more games this year then I have in a while, and I dont know if its just me but Im amazed watching Gordon at the end of games. He seems like hes the only one comfortable scoring in the clutch. I think we need to keep him and build around him more then anyone, he reminds me of Gilbert Arenas almost the way he takes over games except Gordon had proved to be more clutch and has more around him. Rant done. |

Ben Gordon is the Bulls version of Freddy Garcia. He needs a big game, and/or a big challenge to really get him going. The guy loves the spotlight, but hasn't quite figured out how to bring that intensity everytime he steps out onto the floor. Last night Ben really got rolling when the game got close, and Kapono/Williams started bombing from outside. Someone needs to figure out how to get this kid motivated 82 games a year, because he is the only scorer we have on this team right now who can win a game by himself. Everyone else's game is strictly complimentary at this point.

If our rookies can continue to develop and possibly get to the point where one of them can demand a double team...its over. The Bulls would be the best team in the NBA. I gotta tip my hat to Pax, this team is built extremely well and the future, as well as present looks extremely promising. |

The last week or so Ben has been dazzling. Beyond that this season he's improved in numerous categories to the point that his only major weakness is his defensive ability (that and him dissapearing certain games, but he's vastly improved at getting to the line which means he's still valuable even if he isn't draining jumper after jumper).

He's averaging almost twice as many free throw attempts as he had the past two years. That makes a huge difference.
I still wish he didn't turn it over so much, and his percentage still isn't stellar, but it's getting harder to complain. |

I didn't even realize he was averaging over 20 ppg (20.1 to be exact). That's sick considering he's started all of 6 games this year. Here are his fg%/3pt%/ppg December stats: fg% 46.4%, 3pt% 40.4%, ppg 23.3. This doesn't even include the 10/19, 22 points he had against the Raptors last night. He's also getting to the line a lot more. Ben has improved every year he's been in the league. I used to be in favor of trading him for a proven big or "superstar". Not sure I'm in favor of that anymore. Keep it up, Mr. Gordon.
Edit: I just realized that a Ben Gordon thread was created the other day. My bad. Mods, just merge this with the thread that was already created. |

Gordon had another very very solid all around game. He's becoming a vastly more consistent player with every game.

Another very, very, very important thing with Gordon, he's finally starting to use his speed and quickness to get into the lane and break down the opponent's defense. He's driving, getting people out of position, and either drawing fouls or creating better scoring opportunities. 6 assists for Gordon last night are a prime example.
Cut down on the turnovers Ben, and we'll call it a contract. |

I'm starting to think that Ben needs to get more minutes as a point guard. He seems to do much better the more he has the ball in his hands. His assist numbers go up, his mentality to attack goes up. I really think that if he started at the point, and Kirk started at the 2 we'd have a much better offense.

Another fantastic game for Mr. Gordon tonight. Second 40-point game in less than a week.

Early in the fourth quarter tonight when Duhon was playing point Phoenixs defense had Gordon covered very well. I think in those situations we need him to be playing the point.
