Probably not but he's shown he's a player in the race. Great defense too. Future all defense teamer!

Evans, Curry and Jennings have all been a lot better, and there are several other guys that are probably better candidates than Gibson.

Gibson doesn't have a chance unless he averages like 17 and 10 the rest of the season. Even then, his numbers would probably be below some other candidates.
I think it's Steph Curry's award to lose. |

Who created this thread? Don't you have better things to do? People are going to fall in love with a career reserve type PF and are going to give Bulls management yet another excuse for not going after a low post player. Wake up and realize that it is fans like you that overhype marginal talent and pay top dollar for a bad product that cause us to never get the players we need.

Taj has been steady all year, and has been quite the surprise to me. So far this season he's gone from "redundant Tyrus x 2" to "servicible big man" to "Hey this kid can actually play!" With that said he's still no where close in the ROY race. Tyreke Evans has it won unless he gets injured. It's basically a two man race between he and Steph Curry.

I'm definitely happy with what Taj has given the Bulls, it's much, MUCH more than I had expected from him. If he continues to play the way he has played the last few games then more power to him AND the Bulls will be a better team. He is, however not the ROY. Like previously stated, Evans or Curry is going to win it. The only way I could see Taj making any kind of run would be if he all of a sudden put up Bosh-like numbers for the next two months, and even then he may not win simply because it was only 2 months.

You can't draft a 12 man roster full of starting NBA players. But guess what, Gibson IS a starting caliber player. As a rookie, he's been as consistent as you could possibly ask. And to me it just seems your 1. bitter about not drafting Blair and 2. bitter that Gibson has exceeded expectations after everyone was pissy about him being picked in the 1st round. |

Post ASB last year Tyrus averaged 12.8ppg, 7.1rpg, 1.2 spg, 2.1 bpg, and shot 46.6%. Everyone seemed incredibly high on him.
Granted it's only been 4 games and Noah will come back eventually Taj has averaged 13.5ppg, 12rpg, 1spg, 2.3bpg, and has shot 62.5%. I guess what I'm getting at is that Tyrus all of a sudden showing up seemed fantastic, but Taj has just quietly produced and since the ASB has been producing quite well. I'd say no one is "over-hyping" him, he really is playing well right now. |

The best thing about Taj is that he has great basketball smarts. Unlike Thomas, he knows where to be on the court and he has a great chemistry with Rose. He has the awareness that Thomas doesn't on both ends of the court. When we drafted Rose, we all though he'd be driving and dishing to Thomas for open dunks and alley oops, but it never happened. Thomas was rarely in the right place on the court. Look at Taj, he's always there for wide open dunks when the defense collapses on Rose in the lane.

Bulls lead 26-25 after 1. Wizards started off hot hitting all their jumpers, but solid quarters from Rose, Gibson and Murray have the Bulls ahead.

I was upset that we drafted Gibson instead of the Beast but I'm over that. Gibson has won me over with his hard work and solid play but my previous post was to prevent people from viewing him as our solution at PF. Gibson is a very serviceable player but we still need a better post option with more size if we want to become a championship team. I like Gibson and I want him to stay a Bull. He'll make a great bench player/spot starter playing 25mpg for years to come. When people talk about the ROY award for him that is just foolish. It wasn't until recently that he started posting credible ROY numbers. That's all I'm saying. If you want to give someone the ROY award for what they are doing recently then the award would easily go to Darren Collison who has been amazing since Chris Paul went down with injury. He's helped keep them in the playoff picture (though they are 3 games back).
Don't overhype Gibson b/c if the fans settle on Gibson being the starter our cheap management will have no problem with that outcome. |

My time is mine so I'll ignore your inquiry on my time. Obviously you don't have much to do! This thread was created because Taj has played well...nothings overhyped but your allusion to him being marginal...GET A LIFE!!! |
