Apparently Kemp is claiming to be down to 257 pounds and kicked his drug habit and ready to go. Also in camp looking for the last Bulls roster spot is Andrew DeClerq, formerly of the Magic. These two are competeing with Luke for the 15th and final roster spot.

If Kemp were even close to his old self that'd be awesome, but I doubt it. He was once a monster player, but he got fat and lazy after the lockout. I seriously doubt he can still cut it in the NBA.

If he is down in the 260 range like he claims and has any of that old athleticism left in the tank at all, he would be awesome in the one area the Bulls really need help. More than likely he hasn't got anything left, and this is one Hoosier doing another Hoosier a favor. |

I doubt he is down to 260 lbs. But what is more likely, that he still has something in the tank, or that Luke will "develop" into a true NBA players.
I'd take my chances on a fat former star. (as long as he works. We can sign him to a 10 day contract or two and see how things work out) We would then have two Michael Sweetney's on the bench. |

You can't sign anyone to a 10 day contract during the preseason. There is a point during about halfway through the year that you can offer a 10 day deal. Right now the smallest you can offer is a non-guarenteed year long deal at the league minimum. |

I hope we get a good reserve big man at that 15th spot but it is looking more and more like we won't. We just need a big-man who we can use for 6 fouls that we would be able to put in against Shaq should we ever need to do such a thing. We also need a big man just in case we have injuries to any of our top 3 bigs. I just don't want that replacement to be Luke. |

If Luke and DeClerq are the other options in the scenario, might as well give Kemp a long hard look.

NEVERMIND!
QUOTE Chicago Tribune - Shawn Kemp's planned workout at the Berto Center never materialized Monday, and it's unlikely the six-time NBA All-Star will receive another invitation from the Bulls, K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune reports. Kemp experienced travel problems late Sunday night but still arrived in Chicago early Monday morning. Instead of working out with the Bulls, he traveled to his hometown of Elkhart, Ind., to visit an ailing relative. Kemp, who retired in 2003 after 14 seasons because of weight issues, also missed a planned workout with Dallas earlier this year. Credit: Hoopstalk/Tribune |

Well that's the end of that... I wonder how Kemp is going to feed those 15 kids now?

Okay, now that Shaw Kemp is out of the way who do you think the Bulls should look at.
Should they bring in Michael Olowokandi, Andrew DeClerq, or give Luke the job by default. I personally would like to see them bring in one of the first two names and see if they have anything to offer. I think both are more physical players then Luke and would help the Bulls more on the defensive end if they ever get called to come off the pine. |

Olowokandi would be at the top of my list if you can get him for the minimum.
