We have enough guards and we definitely didn't need another one... who is also UNDERSIZED. Dumb move my pax. Also Aaron Gray??? Please. This was the Worst draft ever.

Curry was a stellar pick. With Duhon on the way out the Bulls needed another guard and while Curry has some serious question-marks (and should be given very little wiggle room in terms of off the court issues/errors) but can really help this team.

Last year the Bulls bench lacked offensive fire-power (once Gordon was inserted into the lineup and Noc was out most of the year) and Curry will be able to come off the bench and fire shots while Sef can come off the bench and play smothering defense.

Why won't duhon be re-signed? Also I just read curry's scouting report, looks like he's a good shooter. I guess if duhon is not coming back than this is a good pick.

It pretty much a foregone conclusion that he will be dealt (he is under contract), potentially with a Andres Nocioni or someone else for a different asset. The Bulls apparently weren't too pleased about his late night habits (first I heard of Duhon being a partier was this off-season, so it was kept under wraps for most of his career) and obviously him showing up late from time to time this season.

One possibility could be a deal with the Cavs who had interest in Duhon back when he was an RFA.

Duhon won't be re-signed because the team is pissed that he cares more about partying and getting drunk than showing up for practice on time.

Am I mistaken when I think he's still under contract (although I think the rest of what you said is accurate and its part of the reason he'll be gone...that and I think they can use him to get a piece that fills a more important need).
SoxFan1
Yes, Duhon is still under contract.

Duhon and Noc are both likely to be traded, IMO. I think someone came up with the idea of a Noc and Du for Fyre trade. I'd be all for that.

Curry will probably have the role Pargo had a couple years ago, coming off the bench and hopefully making some baskets. He is lazy on D though, so Skiles is gonna probably rip him a new one during practice and when he's on D.

Gray will probably be nothing more then a backup C, but at least he can score a little.

Curry is an excellent value pick for the Bulls. The guy was a top of the world recruit in college, and has a world of potential. He would have been a late first round pick, but there were character questions, that apparently the Bulls liked his answers to. He gives us a little more size, and a lot more offense in the backcourt. This is another nail in the coffin for Chris Duhon.
eddog2
Before the draft I was looking at people that I wanted to be around at 49 and 51 for the Bulls. I came to the realization that Gasol, "Big Baby", and others that I really wanted would likely be gone but I really was hoping that Curry was still there. Unfortunately Gasol got picked at 48. That really sucked.

I know Gray is not that great but he is another big body to collect fouls. Who knows he might actually play some sort of role for us in the future. As for Curry I was very excited to see us get him at 51. Curry will give us another player off the bench who can score and hit the 3 pointer. It will probably take him a while to get used to the NBA three but when he does he'll hit it at a more consistent mark than Duhon ever could. What I really like about him is that he played PG & SG in college and he likely should be able to do the same in the NBA. He's also an unselfish player that takes what defenses give him. That will fit in perfect with the Bulls who already have several scorers.

Sure he's undersized but he'll give us options off the bench. We could go small with a Gordon, Curry lineup or big with a Sefolosha/Hinrich lineup. Either way I think we added a great piece to our puzzle.

In the draft we needed to add size to our frontcourt and our backcourt. We did one successfully by taking Noah and Gray but really didn't have an opportunity to add size in the backcourt. Instead we added Curry who hopefully can play somewhat of a Daniel Gibson type role on our team. I think he'll definately contribute a little next year and more in the years thereafter.
dasox24
I absolutely love the Curry pick. I mean, he's just a flat out scorer, but can also run an offense. Yeah, he's undersized, but I think he could be our new Ben Gordon off the bench. Obviously, I don't expect him to score 20 pts./game like BG, but he could eventually score 8-12 pts/game off the bench in a lot less minutes that Gordon. So, essentially, he'd be worth the same, but we wouldn't have the defensive liability of a small SG in the game as much. I definitely think we could see BG traded for a big man, and then Sef/Curry take his place.

i like the curry pick as well, he is agreat scorer, but the only thing that woried me was is off the court problems, i hope it doesnt carry over.

Break it up in to 2 words. James and On. James-on.

thats what i thought too but i heard the guys on CSN pronounce it differently.

I don't think that will be a problem knowing that he received approval from both Pax and Skiles, and we all know how strict they are when it comes to dealing with players with off-court issues and/or bad attitudes. It's why we never even let Tim Thomas play, and why dealing for Randolph was never an option. If he did enough to ease their worries, then I'm sure he really has matured. I guess you really never know, but I have a feeling he'll be good. Though, if he messes up, he'll be off this team so fast...
ZoomSlowik
I wouldn't worry about Curry too much, the only thing I've ever heard about him was one incident involving the selling of marijuana when he was still in high school, which cost him his scholarship to North Carolina. I can't recall anything at Oklahoma State, in fact I remember reading that he was taking it to the other extreme and trying to avoid any kind of trouble at all once he got a second chance.

Curry will be a suprise pick IMO, like Daniel Gibson was last year. He'll average around 10 ppg a few assists and a few big shots. For some reason I just have a feeling he will be one of the gems of this draft in the 2nd round and he will be a great scorer off the bench for us this year.

Maybe not 10 ppg, but I do think he'll contribute if we get rid of Duhon. It would be hard competing with Hinrich, BG, and Sef for him to avg. 10 ppg, but you could definitely see him put up a game here and there with 10-15 points. I think he'll avg. about 6 ppg in about 12-15 minutes/game.

Im assuming either Duhons gone or he will be in Skiles doghouse. Curry would seemingly take all of his minutes and absorb some others as time goes on if he deserves it. He reminds me of Ben Gordon who was a scorer in college just like Curry. With Tyrus most likely starting next year as it looks, Nocioni probably gone, somebody has got to score. I just think Curry is a steal in this draft. He will have a "Daniel Gibson" impact this year but will have more minutes earlier on.

He reminds me of Gordon as well, but he's clearly not as polished or else he would have been taken in the 1st round regardless of character issues. However, I don't see how he'd absorb all of Duhon's old minutes b/c there's no way Sefolosha gets stuck playing 12 minutes/game again this year, while Curry gets 25, especially since Sef is a very good defender and will be even better as a 2nd year guy. I think you'll see Sef get Duhon's old minutes and Curry take Sef's 12 minutes/game.

However, if Gordon is dealt in a Gasol deal, for example, then obviously the amount of playing time for Sef and Curry would increase.

I wonder if he would have been accepted to play at North Carolina instead of Ok state if his draft selection would have changed? hmm... I expect from my prediction for him to play atleast 12-15 mpg this year.
sport1016
he's gonna be a lot like pargo.....except taller and longer

he's definately taller than BG and has a lot more length

but like pargo he may put up some 10-15 point games in blow outs or every now and then when a few people are struggling, but he will never get the consistent playing time to avg double figures or even close.

JamesOn stays if Duhon goes (and i hope he does for darko! yippee!!!) but thabo is going to be the primary backup and both guard spots i think the bulls plan is something like

between each guard spot-96 mins
Hinrich-36 mins
BG-32 mins
Thabo-25 mins
Duhon/Curry-0-3 mins
That way for more than half the game we have a 6'7 guard on the floor. Your typical Vince Carter/Kobe Bryant type plays 40 mins a game. And you manage thabo minutes to match him up with those guys. I think we can all live with those guys being covered for 15 mins (obviously most of which would come in the 1st quarter) by hinrich/griffin/duhon or curry

I believe he was declined his scholarship to UNC because of legal problems.

I didn't like it either until I saw how monstrous this guy was. He is like 7'2-7'3, with alot of work he can be a productive guy. He needs to get rid of that fat on his body. He had the highest body fat % in the entire draft. Don't want him having a heart attack out on the court.
soxfan101
I would of liked it if Brandon Wright or Yi fell to us, but still with how we got 2 really solid contributers in the 2nd round Id have to rate this a pretty damn good draft. Noah is going to surprise some people on this board as well.

Yeah I feel the same way. Noah will impress while Hawes fails to impress. We'll be looking back on this in a couple of years and we'll be happy that Hawes wasn't taken. That is of course if Noah isn't traded for Gasol.

Its a middle of the second round pick... I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. We are probably looking at a guy who might not dress most nights.

Yep, they withdrew the offer because he got caught selling marijuana to an undercover cop.

Going to UNC actually probably would have HURT his stock if anything, even assuming that he didn't get that ding on his character profile. Teams will often forget character issues, just look at Sean Williams going at 17, and he had MUCH bigger issues. The bigger one was probably that he's a 6'3" SG.

His freshmen year he would have been buried behind McCants, and no way he averages as many points as he did with Lawson and Ellington eating up backcourt minutes and Hansbrough and Wright doing a number on his shot attempts. He actually probably would have fared a bit better his sophomore year when all of the studs from the National Championship team left, probably going pro after that year and ending up in roughly the same spot.
