Winless SuperSonics visit struggling Heat
(Sports Network) - A pair of struggling teams square off this evening, as the Miami Heat host the winless Seattle SuperSonics at AmericanAirlines Arena.
Seattle is off to its worst start in franchise history with an 0-8 mark and has dropped 13 in a row, dating back to last season. The Sonics opened a five-game road trip with Tuesday's 103-76 loss to the Orlando Magic at Amway Arena.
Nick Collison led Seattle with 15 points and rookie Jeff Green scored all 12 of his points in the first half. Rookie Kevin Durant struggled to a 10-point night on 4-of-13 shooting for Seattle, which hasn't lost nine in a row since October 29 - November 15 of the 1972 campaign.
The SuperSonics will also visit Atlanta, Charlotte and Memphis on the current road swing. They are one of three winless teams this season, joining Minnesota and Golden State.
In injury news for Seattle, guard Luke Ridnour left Tuesday's loss at Orlando with a strained left quadriceps. Center Robert Swift missed Tuesday's game with right knee tendinitis.
Meanwhile, the lowly Heat will shoot for their second win of the 2007-08 season tonight. They are 1-6 on the season and dropped a 91-76 decision to the Charlotte Bobcats on Tuesday in North Carolina.
Shaquille O'Neal finished with 17 points and six boards for the Heat, who again were without All-Star guard Dwyane Wade. Wade missed his seventh straight game after undergoing shoulder and knee surgery in the offseason.
Udonis Haslem was the only other Miami player in double figures with 10 points, as the Heat fell behind by 30 points on two occasions at Charlotte Bobcats Arena.
Miami is off to its worst start since opening the 2003-04 campaign with seven straight defeats.
The Heat went 2-0 against Seattle last season and have won four straight and six of the last eight meetings.
