We do it every year, what would you do as GM to take this Bulls team to the next level? Let's be feasible and reasonable here. We obviously can't deal Tyrus for Lebron (though I don't know if some people here would even do that deal.)

Anyway, he's my go...

1.) Draft Derrick Rose with the 1st overall pick. Draft Bill Walker in the 2nd round.

2.) Trade Kirk Hinrich/Larry Hughes to Indiana for Jermaine O'Neal.

3) Trade Ben Gordon (S&T)/Andres Nocioni to Memphis for Mike Miller and Jason Collins.

4) Sign Dasagnia Diop.

5) Either re-sign Duhon if he’d want back or find another decent vet backup PG (Cassell, Lue, Boykins, House, Parker, etc.)

PG: Rose/Duhon or FA/Curry
SG: Miller/Sefolosha/Brown
SF: Deng/Walker/Simmons
PF: O'Neal/Gooden/Thomas
C: Noah/Diop/Gray
DutheDoduhon21
alright since no one else is posting ill get it started, mine is not very thought out.

1) draft beasley with the 1st pick and CDR with the 39th pick or draft rose with the 1st pick and mbah a moute with the 39th pick if hes still there
2) sign and trade for arenas (include hughes in that)
3)get Bg and lu signed
4)re-sign duhon?
5)sign a veteran like eddie house
take a chance on shaun livingston?
sign chris lofton if he goes undrafted?
during the season knock posey out the first chance we get

Does anyone know of a place where I can find out the size of NBA contracts and when they expire? (Specifically want to know about the 2010 class)

Best one I know of: NBA Contracts

It doesn't have yearly totals, but it gives you the total contract and when they expire/have options.

This is my favorite b/c it lists team salaries by year. Just click on the team you want to see. The details for certain players are sometimes lacking but for the most part it's accurate.

Just so everyone knows, yes, Slav and I did come up with the master plan.

Anyone have Pax's cell so I can text it to him? laugh.gif headbang.gif

Interesting. Thanks for posting that... I just learned that LeBron and D-Wade have the options be be free agents in 2010, while 'Melo and Bosh have the options to be free agents in 2011. I thought all 4 could be FA's in 2010. Plus, unless Kobe re-signs (which I'm 99% certain he will), he'll be a FA in 2010 or 2011, depending on a player option. Oh, and Amare Stoudemire could possibly be a FA in 2010 due to an Early Termination clause.

Oh, and I guess I might as well give my off-season plan, though not entirely thought out. I guess I should precursor this with Brand opts-out of his contract in this scenario...

1) Draft Rose in the 1st, and James Gist (Maryland) in the 2nd

2) Trade Hinrich and Simmons to Miami for Deaquan Cook, Mark Blount, and Smush Parker (who we would then release b/c he's terrible)

3) Trade Gordon, Gooden, and Nocioni to Memphis for Mike Miller, Brian Cardinal, and Jason Collins

4) Sign Elton Brand (Brand Undecided)

5) Re-sign Deng

PG- Rose/Sefolosha
SG- Miller/Hughes/Cook
SF- Deng/Gist/Cardinal
PF- Brand/TT
C- Noah/Blount/Collins

And yes, I checked salaries, and signing Brand would work if we signed him before we re-signed Deng (that is how it works, right? lol)

Yeah, so this is a ridiculous and unrealistic off-season plan, but this is just for fun, right? Why the hell not...

This is a fun conversation. In fact my buddies and i were arguing about Beasley and Rose last night over some Beers. Here is what i would do if i was Paxson.

1) Draft Derek Rose- The NBA is now a guards league (Deron Williams, Sean Paul etc...) In the 2nd round draft DJ White.

2A) Trade for Jermaine O'neal. He makes 20 mill/ season, however if you could pawn off Hughes (12 million) in a deal centered around Tyrus Thomas i think a deal can get done.

2B) Sign and Trade for Elton Brand. With his team/player option a deal can be worked out with the Bulls to match salaries. Hinrich and Noah for Brand.

C) Make a HUGE splash this offseason by going after Carmello Anthony. Deng (in a sign and trade), and Thomas or Noah or Gooden WITH 2009 and 2010's first round draft picks.

Okay well C probably WONT happen but its fun to think about. I truly believe Pax will bring over Brand OR O'Neal this offseason, especially if he drafts Rose.

My team with 2A)
Derek Rose PG (Hinrich)
Thabo Sefolosha SG (Gordon)
Carmello Anthony SF (Nocioni)
Drew Gooden PF (White)
Jermain O'neal C (Gray)

My team with 2B)
Derek Rose PG (Duhon?)
Thabo Sefolosha SG (Gordon)
Carmello Anthony SF (Nocioni)
Drew Gooden PF (White)
Elton Brand C (Gray)

So pretty much Hughes, Thomas, Hinrich, and Noah will be our trading chips this offseason.... I doubt Pax can bring over Anthony, but Derek Rose along with O'neal OR Brand and were instantly MUCh better. I cant wait for the draft.

Interesting Tidbit:
After the 2009-10 season. D. Wade, K. Bryant and L. James can opt out of there contracts and become unrestricted free agents. Imagine ALL 3 being free agents in 1 offseason!!!!! WOW. It will be interesting to see what players go where. Im guessing LeBron will sign with New York. Kobe will sign on with Da Bulls! And D Wade will sign on with Dallas...
TeaLeafReaderII
I don't think Jermaine O'Neal has much left in the tank. I think Brand is an infinitely better option.

I could definitely see Lebron going to NY but I don't think Kobe would come to the Bulls. Maybe he'd go to the Clippers, Miami, Denver or Philly or something like that. I think Wade is the most likely of all the major players to come to Chicago. He's from the area and has often expressed how much he likes Chicago.

Here is a list of what I'd like to do this summer

1) Draft Derrick Rose in the 1st round and Jason Thompson (Rider PF) or Bill Walker (SF/SG)

One of the packages below:

a ) Sign and trade Ben Gordon, Kirk, Gooden & Nocioni to the Bobcats for Jason Richardson a re-signed Omeka Okafor, Jared Dudley, & Othella Harrington (I'd request Sean May but I don't think they'd bite on that).

b ) Sign and trade Hinrich/Nocioni/Gooden for a re-signed Elton Brand & Shaun Livingston. (Both are in the last year of their contracts with Brand having the ability to opt out. Hopefully Brand starts requesting trades after his contract talks don't go well)

c ) Sign and trade Kirk, Hughes, & Gooden for Jermaine O'neal, Ike Diogu, & Travis Diener

d ) Everyones least favorite I'm sure. Trade Deng, Gordon, & Hughes and maybe a future pick for Kevin Martin, Ron Artest, & Francisco Garcia. Ron Artest can opt out and has already talked about doing it so they essentially are getting value for him before that happens. Sure he's a head case (much like Rodman was) but he's a great talent. Martin gives you the big SG who can hit the 3 and score in bunches, Artest/Thabo would be the best defensive duo, and Garcia is an emerging stud.

Okay so here is my master plan. Do trades b ) and d ) above. You reunite two Bulls that should never have been traded (Brand and Artest). You bring toughness back to the Bulls and you now have 3/4 stars on the team. (Martin, Brand, Rose, Artest) with a sick young supporting cast. You then sign Diop to a 1-3 year deal. We become instantly sick at every position with a quality bench player ready to step in at each spot. We also become better defensively on the wings and in the post with Artest & Diop being added.

Salary cap wise it would be a tight squeeze but how could a team like this not be favored to win it all? Salary (Noah $2.3, Brand $15, Artest $11 re-signed, Martin $9.3, Rose $4.8 ?, Livingston $5.8, Garcia $2, Tyrus $3.75, Thabo $2, Diop $3.5) but is only $59.45 using the numbers below. That means we'd still have cap room to spare to sign another player from the FA list below. Livingston would come off the books in a year unless we wanted to offer him an extension which we could easily do with the salaries I listed out. I'd like to add Eddie House to the team as a 2nd, 3rd PG in case Livingston gets injured again or doesn't come back next season. I think the players on this team would be satisfied with their minutes and everyone would fit into a specific role. It would make Del Negro's job easy b/c there wouldn't be such a big glut of guards. Martin would for sure be the starter as would Rose unless he struggles in his rookie season. Livingston, Thabo, Tyrus, Garcia, & Diop would make an exceptionally long and defensively elite 2nd unit. I think Garcia would be the main scorer on the 2nd unit but with the right rotations a good scoring starter could always be on the floor.

Noah/Diop
Brand/Tyrus/(Thompson develops)
Artest/Garcia
Martin/Thabo
Rose/Livingston

Then make a push to get one or 2 of the free agents listed below to sign 1 year deals hoping that they see that the Bulls are on the verge of a championship:

Corey Maggette
Eddie House
Desagna Diop
Kurt Thomas
Mutombo
Theo Ratliff

Also try and sign Patrick O'Bryant to a 2 year contract at a very low offer. He has good size and I think he'd fit our system as a 2nd/3rd backup center assuming we don't get Diop.
