Free Agency Begins!!!

TalkBulls.com

Since Saturday at 12:01 AM teams were allowed to talk money with free agents. The Bulls were quick to the table by Contacting Free Agent Ben Wallace. Wallace was visited by head coach Scott Skiles, owner Jerry Reinsdorf, and GM John Paxson Saturday afternoon to discuss the possibility of signing with Chicago.

Many analyst felt Wallace would remain in Detroit for most of the season, but those analyst are now saying "not so fast". Wallace's agent Art Tellem, who is also an agent for NBA Superstars like Tracy Mcgrady, Kobe Bryant and Jermaine Oneal has said Ben will wait and see all offers before accepting one. Detroit reporteably has offered Wallace a 48 million dollar deal for 4 years. Many Bulls rumors have us offering or willing to offer him a 60 million dollar deal for 4-5 years. If Ben Wallace signs with the Bulls, we would be one of the most feared defenses in the NBA but the question still lurks, when are we getting that Low post scorer?

A rumor that suddenly sprung up early Sunday Morning was a PJ Brown and JR Smith for Tyson Chandler and Malik Allen trade. Why? The Bulls may be looking to dump Chandler's big salary to free up space to possibly go after another big free agent next year (although they may still be able to sign one more player this year) if they indeed sign Ben Wallace. PJ Brown (Now 37) would be a nice veteran player to bring in who can become a good role play here in Chicago. JR Smith is also a young kid who was a top 10 draft pick a couple years ago who shined when it came to getting verticla, but still needs to improve his shot. With the addition of Peja, Smith appears to be an odd man out in New Orleans. Adding Brown and Smith would add more talent (especially Smith) and gives us more depth for this coming season.

Plan B for Chicago seems to be the tweener Al Harrington who averaged just over 18 ppg and 7 rebounds per game. Harrington, at 6'9, is Not really a true PF and yet not a true SF but he has a big body and can score because of his tremendous strength and good outside face to the basket game. Before the end of the season Harrington was quoted as saying he would love to come to Chicago and talks are heating up again as Free Agency continues.

If Denver does not offer Nene Hilario a deal soon, look for the Bulls to be one of the teams interested in aquiring the big 6'11 260+ Pounder. A young 23 year old who can rebound and block shots, yet is still very raw and is recovering from a season ending knee injury that occurred early last season. Nene showed some spurts of some offensive skills but never really stayed consistent throughout the seasons.

Look for the Bulls to show some interest in guys like Nene, Harrington, and Pyrzbilla if Wallace does not sign. Though this years free agency isnt as good as some others, the Bulls can still add something to help bring Chicago closer to a Championship.

Does anyone have a decent list of 2007 free agents? I tried searching for one, but if the list I found is correct, there are basically zero good big men available next year.

Therefore, if we get rid of Tyson's contract and want to replace him w/ a FA big man, this would be the year to do it.
